My first op-ed in HuffPo!

Check out my op-ed "Aqua Fina or Aqua Finite?" that just went live in Huffington Post's "Green" section. The world's water crisis is the topic of my just-released debut thriller FREEZING POINT, and it's also a topic I care deeply about, so I'm REALLY happy the op-ed found such a great home.

Ouch! Roasted!

Come rake me over the coals at The Book Roast today! Read the excerpt, then answer these three questions served up by my intrepid roastmaster for a chance to win a copy of FREEZING POINT: 1) What kind of vehicle does Karen typically drive, and why? 2) Zo obviously frequents the Ice Shelf often. Why doesn't she just stay home and keep her peanut butter and jelly sandwiches in the freezer like the rest of us? (10 words or less.) 3) Write a hai… Continue

A Web 2.0 Book Launch Party

Because my friends live all over the world, I knew only a handful would be able to attend my book launch no matter where it was held. So I decided to recreate the traditional launch party experience on the Web. Entertainment for the October 1-3, 2008 event includes video welcomes from David Morrell, Gayle Lynds, James Rollins, and Douglas Preston, a reading by a professional voice actress who's also a New York Times author, standup comedy from one of my author friends - even testimony from a me… Continue

Thanks, Karen. My daughter actually shot that one this morning and I thought it would work. I kinda look too goofy when I go for serious as I rarely am.

Hi, Karen, I'm delighted to accept your kind invitation - so, greetings from here in Brittany, the bit of western France that sticks out into the Atlantic. Your book Freezing Point sounds fascinating - but are we really going to have to wait until October 2008 to read it? Shouldn't that be 2007? Do let me know. Best, David

Hi, Karen! Thanks for the welcome from a friendly face and great author!

It's a treat to see your fabulous page here! I miss our discussions on the other group, but I hope all will be coming together soon. I expect things are hopping on Backspace and keeping you busy, especially after Thrillerfest.

I'm sure we'll talk soon, and meanwhile--take care!

Hey Karen,
Nice to hear from you. Welcome to Berkley. I have a couple I'm trying to publish the old fashioned way, too. I look forward to reading Freezing Point; it sounds great (I couldn't put down the blurbs!)
