Hi Don,
For what it's worth?
It's worth a heck of a lot.
We newbies need all the encouragement we can get.
I truly appreciate your kind words.
Best Regards,
Leighton

Thanks for the invite Don. I see we share similar taste in writers. Just met Megan Abbott the other day at the bookstore where I work. She's such a cute petite little thing -although she probably hates being called that. And Charlie Huston is a common sight at our store - love him!

Hi Don (again!) - sent you a mail / comment there about your new novel Ladykiller, which may have come as some surprise to you ... apologies, confusion reigns. Normal service will be resumed as soon as I get my head out of my fundament ... re: Quinn - really glad you liked it, and I can't understand why Seamus Smyth wasn't a big success in the US with it ... Cheers, Dec

Hi Don -

Thanks for dropping by my space ... glad you liked Quinn, it's not everyone's cup of tea but I think the narrative voice is so strong it grips you within a few pages.

I see we have Bruen, Pelecanos, Starr and McKinty in common, bookshelves-wise ... I'm reading The Dead Yard at the moment, just started last night ... I think the guy's a powerful writer, with a rare touch of authenticity. As a reader, I love him ... as a wannabe writer, I hate him. Which is a compliment of sorts ...

Thanks again for dropping by and making me feel welcome, I really appreciate it.

Cheers,

Dec

Don, the U. of Illinois and the surrounding towns are great places to live and work. I now feel "almost" like a native, although i grew up in Massachusetts.

Okay, okay, I get it.

The mouse morphed into Sam Waterston, one of my favorite curmudgeons. I can't wait to see who you become next week.
