I watched a great video from Seth Godin about marketing his books. (www.sethgodin.com and www.writerunboxed.com) He offers the first 100 pages free and inserts in several spots in the email copy to readers, an offer to buy the print book. He figures they will either get tired reading the email or like the book enough to buy it. My book is coming out in print in Sept, 2010. In the meantime, what about selling it as…

In the meantime, what about selling it as an ebook with a similar offer as Seth's? I'm thinking it may get some books pre-sold before the launch and build buzz. Any advice or ideas? thanks for the help, Colin Cuban Crime fiction writer Amir Valle exiledtag:crimespace.ning.com,2008-01-03:537324:Topic:1102632008-01-03T01:11:52.506ZJames K. This may be 6-month old news to some, but I just came across it. The upshot is that Sr. Valle follows a long line of Cuban artists and writers persecuted for their art (including a personal favorite, G. Cabrera Infante). Amir Valle is currently a guest of the German P.E.N, but it sounds like a difficult life, and he is cut off from most family members.

I'm not sure what to suggest, except buying and reading his books, but any comments and ideas are welcome.
Best wishes for the New Year, and long live free speech! Jim
