It's hard to say how sales of this will go (probably very good), and then sales of books through its iBook store, but with this and the Kindle, piracy worries are definitely lessened.

Not erased, just lessened.

Last year I worked in a writer's room with five other people - they all had Macs. Every one of them crashed, lost scripts we were working on and three had to go in for expensive servicing. My PC plugged along with no problems.

(of course now hat I've written this it will likely crash)

I think a lot of views about operatng systems are outdated.

Still, I want an iTouch and an iPad for sheer coolness.

I've repeatedly had the opposite experience. And (touch wood) I've never had an issue with viruses, etc. The iTouch is a great gadget: I took mine to the gym today--read my own book on it while listening to ZZ Top and walking on the treadmill. Worth every penny.

My problem with Windows is more of a look/feel thing. It's just still really clunky compared to OSX.

Definitely true. I go all glassy-eyed and drooly just thinking about Macs. And I think about them all the time.

I've worked with multiple versions of Windows, Unix and Macs. I prefer OSX out of all them. And I say this is an end-user and as a programmer.

The iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch all multitask, it's just that Apple limits this to a few select Apple apps/functions. Like the music player and push notifications.

Books will be priced at $ 14.99 on this item. There is still much discussion about how publishers will figure royalties.

Based on the way the iPhone's app store business model evolved, I'm expecting lots of changes over the next few years. And lots of Amazon vs. Apple back and forth.
