There's are many good crime shows on TV. If people ever get back to reading--and ironically, Kindle and the like might just bring them back--crime books will be big.

TV has been burning out all fiction since shortly after its inception, why should it stop now. It's possible that the electronic revolution will bring people back to reading, even if they are reading on little thingies instead of books and magazines.

We had a new crime drama series start in the UK last night - Sherlock - which is written by Stephen Moffatt (who also writessome of the Dr Who episodes) and Mark Gatiss. It brings Sherlock Holmes wonderfully up to date and was a lot of fun.

I loved Fargo -- did anyone else enjoy that?
Absolutely---one of the best movies ever! Stellar cast--and the lady detective one of the most appealing movie heroines to come along in ages. And also, a prime example of how "humor" CAN work in a story that's deadly serious.

Morse was excellent. And thank god for Lewis! I haven't seen the Inspector Frost series---will definitely have to look that one up!! And Prime Suspect was my perhaps my all time favorite---and in no small way because of Helen Mirren. I haven't read Agatha Christie in years---liked her when I was young, then wearied of that style of mystery. But when I re-read "At Bartram's Hotel' not long ago, just to refresh my memory, it was a pleasant surprise. And witty too. Joan Hickson made Miss Marple…

The best of the British shows were the Morse and Inspector Frost series, plus the one starring Helen Mirren. I never liked the Christie ones, but then I no longer like Christie.
