TNT is unleashing a series of made-for-TV movies based on popular novels to air during the Christmas break of network first run shows.

Last week's Scott Turow's Innocent was very good with Bill Pullman, Marcia Gay Harden and a few other well-known, well performing TV actors.

Sandra Brown's Ricochet -- not so much. The story was good, the performances -- bad.

I am particularly excited about Tuesdays offering--Lisa Gardner's Hide, featuring her detective D.D. Warren (the promos look good--hopefully the final product will hold up)

And on deck are Silent Witness by Richard North Patterson

Good Morning Killer by April Smith

&

Deck the Halls by Mary & Carol Higgins Clark.

Happy watching

I have to agree on Ricochet.  I was less enthused by Innocent than you. Acting and production values were better but...  I think the premise of the story locked Turow into a predictable story with a feel good ending.  I expect this from LMN movies (one of my guilty pleasures) but not a top writer.  I haven't read the book.  I expect the story is about the same.  In my opinion, it would have been a better story if the main character, Rusty Sabich, had been guilty.

Brian, I agree, having Rusty not guilty was a standard ending. I have never read Scott Turow, for no other reason than legal thrillers are not my usual cup of tea, but have heard very good things about his books.

As I watched, I thought the better ending would be if Rusty were innocent but truly set up by his wife, 'from beyond the grave'  in a way that he could not prove his innocence thus forcing him to pay for his infidelities both past and current.

As for Lisa Gardner, I've read two of hers, an early one and her first to feature D. D. Warren and Bobby Dodge. IMO she has improved from one to the next, where I will continue to read her series, so I am hopeful tonight's movie production is more akin to Innocent than Richocet.

David, I think your ending would be great  Maybe we can rewrite the endings of all the great writers.  That might be fun.

I'll be watching tonight as well.  I haven't read Lisa Garner.  Maybe I will if the movie is good.

Ok, this is slightly off topic, but I just watched (for free) Before The Devil Knows You're Dead for the 3rd time. Sidney Lumet's last movie. Think Simple Plan with even worse complications. Two brothers plan a robbery. One's married. The brother's having an affair w/his wife. Okay, I'll say no more. If you haven't seen this movie, you're missing something.

I also watched part of Certain Prey (adapted from the John Sandford novel. Couldn't finish watching. It was abysmal.

Watched Lisa Garner's Hide last night.  Romance-mystery isn't my thing but I think this one was better than the first two in the TNT Mystery Series.

We put it on the DVR, haven't had a chance to watch it yet, but I'm glad to hear you thought it was better than the others. That bodes well.

Thanks,
