You've got nothing to meet about, Bill. Just relax, meet it easy.
  • Bill Cameron

I've been thinking about this, and I was wondering if you could do the left knee. It's been mucked up for years, but never quite bad enough that the doc was willing to actually go in and fix it. Maybe if it has a cap in it, Doc will finally be willing to do something. And if not, well, then at least I can say, "Yo, I'm a badass what got a cap busted in him." No one has to know the truth.
  • MysteryDawg

    That's a damn big gun.
  • Victor Gischler

    Chatter chatter.

    There. That should do it.
  • Charlie Williams

    Hiya Duane you psycho.
  • Charlie Williams

Hey, I never said I wasn't a psycho. But do you know what? When I see your pic I think of Goodis and SHOOT THE PIANO PLAYER. You're about to shoot the player of a stringed instrument, aren't you? Who's the psycho now?
  • Sean Doolittle

I heard they had Yeunglings in here. Are they gone? Does anybody know whose room this is?
  • Paul Guyot

It's actually, Jungians, Sean. Not Yuenglings.

And they're standing over by the pretzels.
  • John DuMond

Hey, I just read THE WHEELMAN last weekend. I couldn't put it down. Great book. Looking forward to reading THE BLONDE.
  • Duane Swierczynski

Thanks, John! So glad you dug it.
  • Paul Guyot

    Parte hombre. Parte maquina.

    Todo un policia.
  • Tiffany Leigh

Duane -- nice to see you here, and thanks for the welcome. First Secret Dead, now here... coincidence? stalking? Maybe if you stopped writing and editing great stuff none of this would be happening!
  • Steve Allan

Awesome Robocop trailer. I wonder what the sequels would have been like if they had given Frank Miller all of the artistic freedom he wanted.

And why hasn't Verhoven ever done another cop movie?
  • Jon Jordan

Ok Duane, you can put the gun down now...
Just look at me, don't look over there, look at me..

come on, just put the gun down, you don't really want to hurt anybody do you?
  • Mary L. Wheeling

Duane, my Philly Gun Guide. I mean FUN guide. Hope you're staying out of trouble. Ish.
  • Duane Swierczynski

Jon, I want a new car. Something that goes really fast and gets shitty gas mileage. And I want a recount. And no matter how it turns out, I want my old job back!
  • Mary Reagan

Love your approach to the favorite writers section.
  • JackBludis

How can a hardboiled writer go wrong with those favorites?
  • Kevin Burton Smith

Hey man, can I crash here? I brought beer...
  • Dave White

So I'm sitting here and I'm saying to myself, "Hey, I wonder what my mentor is up to." And what do I see?

He's holding the fucking place up with a gun...

All right, everyone stay calm. He really likes beer.

And talk sports. If you talk sports, he'll go to sleep.
  • Duane Swierczynski

I love all of the books you mentioned, Judith. If you forced me to pick my absolute Fred Brown (and nice backwards reference, by the way!) favorites, I'd have to say NIGHTMARES & GEEZENSTACKS, his unbelievable collection of short-shorts, and HIS NAME WAS DEATH.

I think you should run a French class here at Crimespace. There are at least 10 untranslated Jean-Patrick Manchette novels I want to read before I die, as well as this David Goodis biography I have on my shelf...
  • Duane Swierczynski

Judith, your English kicks the living hell out of my French.

And Manchette was a myth? Say it isn't so!
  • Allan Guthrie

I heard someone say Manchette and I came running.
  • David Magayna

Hey Duane, bonjour (the limit of my French). I guess I inhaled THE WHEELMAN is about three breaths. Great book. I'm thinking of looking up that earlier work of yours and sampling one of everything you mixed up there (151, was it?), but then maybe, I'll just stay topical and grab a case of Dead Guy Ale.
  • Dave White

    Wow. Just wow.
  • Jordan Dane

Thanks for gracing my blog with your greatness. I hope some of your writing talent rubs off by sheer association.
  • Duane Swierczynski

Greatness? Talent? Jordan, are you sure you're on the right crimespace page? : )
  • Tony Black

Duane - thanks for stampin' my pass to this page! Now my pester campaign can start on behalf of The Pusher . . .c'mon, I owe the, bruddah! We gonna see some of your fine, fine prose on The Pusher's pages soon?
  • Duane Swierczynski

Ah, there's the Pusher Man. Good to see you here. And don't worry--I'm cooking up something special for you.
  • Tony Black

Great stuff. Thought you might be, but a little needle does no harm now and again, eh?
  • JackBludis

You're not that creepy in real life.
  • Simon Wood

    Duane,

Good meeting you in LA, but boy, are you an expensive date? :-)

    Simon
  • Duane Swierczynski

Simon: But I didn't pick the place! I swear!

Em: So glad you liked the first 50. Don't worry--I'll make sure you get an ARC in a month or so!
  • Simon Wood

I know you didn't pick the place, but the rest of decided someone needed to be the red shirt and you won. Sorry about that...
  • Kent Gowran

Hey Duane - Loved The Blonde. Your best one yet, and I'm definitely looking forward to Severance package.
  • Bryan Smith

I'm currently reading The Wheelman and holy crap, but this mother *smokes*. Every bit as good as the amazing The Blonde so far.
  • Harry Shannon

    Howdy, Duane
  • Birgit Roger Pratcher

Hi Duane, great to meet you.
  • Richard M. Johnson

Duane - I gotta say "The Blonde" has one of the best openings I have read in years. Really enjoyed the Wheelman too. Really dark and twisted.
  • Kent Gowran

The delay on Severance Package is a bummer, but, hell, the trade paperback route really might be the better way to go. It's worked well for Charlie Huston, and Mr. Gischler seems mighty pleased to be on that road himself now. So... I wait. And grumble. Just a bit.
  • Laura Benedict

    Hi, Duane!
  • Jay Stringer

Hi Duane, never got round to thanking you for the ad.
(or is thats just on myspace? i dunno)
I'm told you've been enjoying Ed Brubakers criminal. Did you like Bendis' JINX aswell?
  • Duane Swierczynski

    Hey, James--

I read JINX years ago, and really enjoyed it. (I'm a Bendis fan, too.) If it's a comic, and it has a crime in it, I'll most likely pick it up.
  • Dave Richards

Hi Duane. Yes talking with you this afternoon was a blast. Thanks again for your time. I forgot to mention another book you might like, Hack/Slash from Devils Due Publishing. It's a horror/humor book for people who like good horror movies and love bad ones. There's currently two trades out.
  • Duane Swierczynski

Great suggestion, Dave. I just read the synopsis and, bam, sold. Ordered a copy.
  • Julie Morrigan

Hi Duane - just finished The Wheelman and absolutely loved it! Thanks for a great read. Jools
  • Clea Simon

Hey - got here via the links in Sarah's column. Sorry about the surgery. That stuff just all sucks. Read some Willeford (the one place, i think, we come together). Unless laughing will make it hurt more.
  • Jimmy Callaway

Thanks, man. And I'm looking forward to that Moon Knight Annual.
  • DaRk LeA

    Thanks for the add =)
  • L.J. Sellers

    Just saying Hi.
Janet Reid has been raving about your novels, so there on my list now.
