Anchorage
About Me:
Married with a teenager. In other words, perpetually broke and bamboozled.

My first Romantic Suspense with an adult edge, A Rich Investment, will be released sometime next spring by www.darkedenpress.com.

Not a mystery or crime book, my debut as Morgan O'Reilly, Halo in Her Pocket will be available October 26. Check out my website for more details and a short excerpt.

Books And Authors I Like:
I met a fabulous bunch of readers and authors alike at Bouchercon 2007. I'll be looking for all of them here.
Movies And TV Shows I Like:
When I actually do watch TV, I rarely get to choose as the men folk control the remote. I've grown to appreciate the sweet silence when the one-eyed brain-sucker is turned off.

Law & Order - all of them
CSI: Las Vegas followed by Miami
My husband likes to watch Cops so I see a fair amount of that as well.

Were you at Bouchercon this weekend? You certainly don't look like a person with no friends yet.
  • JackBludis

No, sadly, I didn't make Bouchercon this year. It should be easy next year. In Baltimore, where I live.

Some good choices at the Anthonys. My friend Simon Wood for best story, and Laura Lippman's "No Good Deed." Laura's book, in my way of thinking, borders on classic, and almost creates another subgenre.

I've done the teenager bit. Now, it's the caregiver bit to my 3yr old grandson.

Morgan ... wow, that website, not to mention your myspace photo, but you do tell us about it over there on the left.

I ODed on Law and Order a year ago. Have trouble getting into CSI. I like fiction where the reader has a chance to beat the sleuth to the solution. In the case of L&O, it's been too easy to beat the sleuths to the solution.

Hey, you were a great panelist and I really enjoyed seeing you at Bouchercon. How's that assistant of yours? lol.
  • Louisa Christy

I enjoyed this weekend tremendously and did take a nap upon returning home. Was there a letdown? No, since the half century birthday is tomorrow, I felt as though the world was terrific and I had accomplished so much. This weekend just proved to me how much I love this profession and the people in it. I am so proud of you and your work and you did a fantastic job this week and I know it was very difficult for you. You are a great success and a wonderful example and heroine to us all. Now, just take care of yourself, my friend, I love you. And thanks for sharing DH for that dance.

All of a sudden I have a strange affinity and fondness for your middle name. I enjoyed your website.

Hi Morgan -- so you're home and recovered? What a blast, huh? And it hasn't ended yet - been working on an ad for the Anchorage Daily News (you'll soon see why in your last issue of the DEAD SNOWMAN, coming soon to an e-mail address near you!) Tomorrow we're taking a visiting NY author on tour of the Kenai and to Homer, where she'll have her book signing on Friday. So life is not dull... like your laughs and glad to have met you.
  • Karen J. Laubenstein

p.s. - Are you joining Alaska Sisters in Crime? We're meeting on the 3rd Wed. in October at Title Wave (that's my understanding). Will let you know if it changes.

Teenagers do come in handy. Shame I don't have one of my own. Maybe I can get an intern. My girlfriend and I revel in our role as everybody's favorite eccentric aunt and uncle, but still... when you need one, a teenager sure does come in handy. I'm off on book tour soon and the house sitter isn't so technically minded. Maybe I can hire a local hoodlum to come in and set stuff up for me.
I like the idea of romance for a "furious" mood. Had one of those last night after a Chinese meal.

Morgan: Love the description...."romantic suspense with an adult edge." Keep us all posted on publication dates and progress. Cheers, mark

Hi, Morgan!! Thanks so much for writing--I miss Anchorage very much, and in fact am still suffering withdrawal. ;)

You all are just the best--I wish Bouchercon was there every year (though I guess that wouldn't be fair to Karen and Marcy and the other extraordinarily devoted people who put it together!)

Take care, thanks for the tremendous hospitality, and please keep in touch! :)

    Kelli

You are a person of many names, but one face, which is a good thing in my book... :-)

Hi Morgan -- hope you can mark your calendars for Nov. 13 and Dec. 11 - both 2nd Tuesdays and the next Alaska Sisters in Crime meetings. We want you! I'll let you know where as soon as that's firmed up.

    -Karen

That is quite the cover. Seems like something I will have to check out for sure. Thanks for the update. Good luck. Alaska is the best. Love that state. Are people talking about "Into The Wild" up there or are the over it? Good luck with the book. I have to track one down. Cheers, Mark

Good grief, Morgan! At first I thought - wow - someone was at Rum Runners longer than I thought! Do I dare to read? Also, love the photo of you with the wonderful dog (sniffling, I miss my dog--she flew to NY with one of the authors who attended Bouchercon and might not be back except to visit)... we think we're going to be meeting at the Northrim Bank for Alaska Sisters in Crime on Nov. 13th... you can check www.aksinc.org for latest meeting news Monday night or Tuesday -- that's when we'll have the info confirmed. We're kinda chuckling that the bank would let us (strangers) in afterhours and with our group's title. Anyway, if I dare to read your novella (it would be something completely different) I'll probably still be in shock when I see you at the AKSinC meeting!!! Dana Stabenow is getting her Alaska Artist of the Year award tonight from Governor Palin at the Governor's Awards for the Arts and Humanities banquet in Fairbanks. I was going to be there, but Dana wryly pointed out it was a very expensive venture just to get some photos. So got their official photog to promise us photos of Dana getting her award and will have to be satisfied with that. Anyway, hope we'll see you Nov. 13th if not sooner. Are you doing signings for this??? -Karen
