Hi, Brian! If you mean the stories for the ezine, they're arriving pretty steadily. If you mean stories for the Christmas anthology this year, I have a few already! If you mean my own stories... who has time to write???
There has been some discussion about the impending demise of the Crime and Suspense ezine. With apologies to Mark Twain, the reports of it's death have been greatly exaggerated.
The Crime and Suspense ezine is still alive and well. We are taking a brief hiatus as we shift gears, however, as we are changing our format. The August issue will be on the streets as planned, but the first issue after that will be the November/December issue.
The 'zine will be bimonthly now, still with reviews, interviews and stories. We'll have more stories per issue, though, as well as audio components to each issue.
We have also gone to a paying-market and subscription-support model. If you are interested in the new way of doing things, visit the Crime and Suspense website (http://www.crimeandsuspense.com) for the details.
Tony,
We met at the HAW conference at the dinner on Saturday night. Thanks for the info about this site. I'm working on a project and want to stay in touch.
My card has e-mail and a new website that I just setup.
Many conferences are genre-specific, and since you are here on Crimespace I'm making the assumption that you are talking about crime/mystery/suspense/thriller novels.
One thing to realize is that, in the world of Cons, there are two different types: CONferences and CONventions. Conventions are great for fans of the genre, but generally have less value to budding writers. So, I'd stick with conferences if possible.
Depending on how far you are willing to travel, here are a few that are coming up in the next four months:
New England Crime Bake - http://www.crimebake.org/index.htm
Forensic University of St. Louis - http://www.sistersincrime.org/ForensicU/
Clues and Red Herrings - http://www.pghsinc.com/
Tony Hillerman Writers' Conference - http://www.hillermanconference.com/
Great Manhattan Mystery Conclave (Manhattan, KANSAS) - http://www.manhattanmysteries.com/
I know none of them are very close to us here in the Southeast, but if you take a look at their websites, you may find one that is of enough value to make it worth the trip.

I just finshed reading "A Knife in the Devil's Hand," in the Spring *Great Mystery and Suspense,* and enjoyed it a great deal. Good read.
