Just out - Forever Young: Blessing or Curse, a paranormal romantic thriller by Morgan Mandel -
Fresh beginnings turn tragic when Dorrie Donato’s husband, Larry, is killed in a hit and run accident a few months after starting a new job at the Life is for Living Institute. Discouraged and desperate after suffering countless setbacks, Dorie accepts an offer by Larry’s boss, the famous Angel Man, to be the first to test an experimental pill designed to spin its user back to a desired age and hold there, yet still retain all previous memories. The pill seems too good to be true. Maybe it is.
Oddly enough, I do look exactly like a pile of sleeping rabbits. Just ask Bill Crider, whom I think is the only person on this forum who's seen me in the fur.
Hi Morgan - Thanks for the welcome, I really appreciate it. Hope Two Wrongs makes a very big right (ahem) for you ... As soon as I find my feet on Crime Space, I'll drop back to say hi again. Cheers, Dec
Hi, nice page with lots of interactivity. /Thanks for the invite. I will spend some time later reading it all. Crimespace is fun but easy to get distracted from doing the writing I need to or other work!
Hi,
I’m looking forward to sharing writing experiences with you.
I have “finished” a mystery novel, still needing some fact checking and editing. My plan is to hire an editor and then put it on a print and demand website such as lulu.com.
Reason: I don’t want the hassle of trying to sell and promote it. Yet don’t want it to land in a drawer, as some kind of hobby product.
Any thoughts? Any suggestions for an editor? Your opinions are welcomed.
(My icon has no meaning; it was the only graphic I had stored in my computer.)
Thanks,
Joan
Thanks for the invite to be friends. I have always loved Morgan as a female first name.
I am blown away by the accomplished people we have on Crimespace. I feel very fortunate to be a small part of the group.
Hey Morgan,
Much aloha from Hawaii. Looks like you're on your way up. This mystery author biz is a tough game--write, promote, write, promote. When do we get to have a life?
Hi, Morgan, and thanks for the invite! My mom's from Chicago originally--it's one of my favorite cities.
I'll be there in early January for a conference (yeah, it's gonna be cold!), but still--the hot dogs (complete with celery salt) and pizza are worth it! (Though I miss Marshall Field's. There's a reserved level in hell for Federated Department Stores).
Hi Morgan, thought I'd stop by now that I have some clue how Crimespace works. Where do you live in Chicago? I was born in Evanston. Last time I was back was to go to Bouchercon 2 years ago and I gotta say the downtown area was so nice it was hardly recognizable. Congrats on your first novel Two Wrongs. Is it a mystery? Romance? Both? EPIC is not a bad place to get a start. I won an EPPI in 2003 and now Poisoned Pen Press is re-issuing Listen to the Mockingbird, my historical mystery/suspense next month. They say it never happens, but it does. Is Hard Shell still around? They had a good rep, but I thought I'd heard they had closed. Cheers and best of luck.
Hi, Morgan! The conference in January is called the APA/AIA annual--it's like the Bouchercon for classicists and archaeologists, and believe me, there's even more alcohol consumed at this than at writing conferences! ;)
I'm giving a presentation on comic books and classics, as part of an Outreach Panel--it'll be fun (plus, I love Chicago--it's my mom's hometown!) I'll be doing a lot of publicity for my book, too.
But I'm still really upset about Marshall Fields! :(
Oh, no! I'd been looking forward to Carson's...sigh. Chicago isn't the great place to shop it used to be. We lost the Emporium and I. Magnin years ago in SF. MF and CPS were holdovers from a much more elegant era. I'll miss them both.
Thanks for letting me know, Morgan.
Hi Morgan, SMFS is the Short Mystery Fiction Society, a yahoo group for writers. Cassell Network of Writers, CNW, is a writers organization for freelancers. Both groups are great sources of information.
Hi Morgan! I spent a wonderful couple of days in Chicago loving your snow a few winters ago. You got 13 inches while I was visiting. I was originally from Atlanta so I never get enough real winter.. Thank you for your invite. :-)
Mari
OOOH! I envy you! I live in SoCal now and while it snows in the mountains, we never seem to get snow tires. I like being settled in somewhere it is snowing. It's so quiet, like being in a church.
Hi, Morgan! Thanks for adding me to your line-up of friends. I look forward to finding out more about you and your work. I hope you’ll check out my new thriller, IM, about a serial killer preying on gay men using Internet hookup sites.
Thanks for adding me to your list of friends, but does it mean I'm one among two thousand or more? Is that better or worse than being one in a million?
Really like your writing style from what I've seen.
I'm still not sure what DH is--dear husband? lol You said you like Mary Higgins Clark and Brad Meltzer. Did you like working with Hard Shell? Do you have an agent?
From one Morgan to another: thanks for the invite! I lived in Chicago for a while. You must have amazing concentration if you can write during your commute on the El or the IC.
Thanks for the invite, you have some interesting stuff on your page here. I wonder if Prof. Holly Fretwell is referring to the "Hockey Stick" temperature scenario...
I am still reading the "blog" bit about houses and manuscripts - yep, a variety of stuff here. Have a good New Year.
I'm delighted to be your friend. Not everyone can stand those hairy legs in my picture , but the crime people are great and don't seem to care if I have hairy legs or wear sunglasses while reading.
This is the only dog who will allow himself to get dressed up. My other dogs would rather eat dogfood than wear anything other than a collar. This little guy was charmed into being a clotheshound by the little girl next door.
Margaret (note that I cannot even spell my name in the last post)
I'm so excited to actually be communicating in the 21st Century mode! How'd you make your page background look so awesome? What other sites are you on??
Hi Morgan, I'm happy to be one of your friends on crimespace. This is a neat site ... I just joined a few days ago. I'm a bit rushed at the mo, but plan to visit your website. I hope you'll visit mine: www.susanfleet.com
It's sort of eclectic: music, women musicians, and my crime thriller.
I'll be back with more comments later!

Hello Morgan! Sorry it has taken me so looooong to stop by here. Busy as you may well know. Had workshops the last two weekends -- how to write and rewrite the novel. Busy also with my latest projects. Interviewed by the Charleston WV Gazette which can be found at:
You sound like the perfect person to author my story. If you review my crimespace spot, or Email me at jmjenne214@yahoo.com., I promise you won't be dissapointed. If you or a friend are available to do this project, let me know and I will get you the necessary information.
Sincerely,
J. Michael Jenne

Hi, Morgan,
Happy to be friends. I remember Chicago with great fondness, though it's been several lifetimes since I was there. You have a cool page, a lot of stuff going on, many familiar faces.
