Before Old Hickory Lake was built, the Cumberland was the province of riverboats. It was a heavy trade route where gamblers often lost their gold. The Cherokee used the river for travel and as a source of food and water. The Dalton Boys were said to have holed up along its banks and the Yankees camped here to cut off supplies headed for the Confederate Army.

Smart, handsome and independently wealthy Wes Henry and sometime girlfriend Natalie Dubhe have been acquainted for some 8 years though his interest in her is somewhat more than she suspects. When the two discover a tiny map in the sand during a friendly game of volleyball out on the lake's Party Island, they take up the quest for treasure as a lark. But treasure is often followed by trouble and more than murder is uncovered in the small lake town of Hendersonville, Tennessee.
