About Me:
I'm a California native and a graduate of U.C. Berkeley, where I majored in theater and minored in everything that Berkeley has a reputation for. The Unseen in bookstores now!

Wow, it seems like I’ve been waiting a long time for this. At the same time, I desperately need another month.

Come to think of it, maybe everyone always needs another month.

But here we are, magically....... The Unseen hits bookstores this week, officially on Tuesday, but… Continue

New Year Catch Up

Happy New Year!

Well, okay, I'm a little late.

So yes, one resolution is to keep up this blog better than I have been, or at least post links to the blogs I do at Murderati, Storytellers Unplugged, and MUSE.

This is the round up. Um… catch up:

THE HARROWING is now on sale in… Continue

Masters of the Craft (World Horror, Part II)

(cross-posted from Murderati.com)

Writing conventions are always invaluable on so many levels it’s hard to quantify. But there’s often, or maybe always, one particular thing that happens that is worth the whole cost and effort of attending – that may actually cause a paradigm shift in the way you approach your writing and/or your career.

I was at the World Horror Convention in Toronto last weekend and for me that life-altering event was the “Masters of the Craft” panel,… Continue

World Horror

I’m heading off to Toronto this week for the World Horror Convention.

I’ll be doing:

- A signing with the fabulous Sarah Langan, author of the truly terrific debut THE KEEPER, also a nominee for a Stoker for First Novel, in the Dealers Room at the Toronto Marriott (the con hotel) on Friday at noon (HWA booth).

- A mass autographing on… Continue

Let's talk about... gender (cross-posted from Murderati.com)

Ooh, scary. But maybe I can get away with it because it’s St. Patrick’s Day and everyone’s going to be drunk by noon anyway, right?

Maybe I’ve been thinking about gender and writing because there have been some little mini-explosions on the subject on several

listserves/message boards I’m on. Some writers right here on Crimespace challenging a

list of favorite mystery authors because there were practically no

women on…

Hi Alexandra-Wondered if you'd be willing to write about a favorite "forgotten" book for my blog project in August. You can find the last three months worth at http://pattinase.blogspot.com
If it's not your thing, I understand. Thanks, Patti

I am psyched, Karen! We'll have a blast.

And thanks, J.K. - I'm thrilled you liked THE HARROWING (and the Killerettes - we have fun.) Sorry I didn't get to talk to you at TF - I never get to see anyone at that con because of all the rehearsing we do. I love it - but I miss out, too...

Hi, Alexandra

I didn't get a chance to speak to you at ThrillerFest, but I thought THE HARROWING was great. I'm looking forward to the next one. (The Killerettes did a great job, by the way. I can't wait until next year.)
