About Me:
I'm a songwriter, dog trainer (a dog genius, actually), and mystery novelist. My Jack Field and Dr. Jamie Cutter dog mysteries for Avon (six novels, one anthology with stories by J.A. Jance and others) have a growing and fiercely dedicated fan base. I'm currently without a publisher or an agent, yet I'm still working on two new novels (the 7th featuring Jack and Jamie, a 1st featuring Lou Kelso, a New York private eye), plus a book on canine behavior and training, and a Jack and Jamie short story.
I also work full time training dogs and solving behavioral problems.

Yorkies are great dogs, no question. I see a lot of them, being in the big city; they're a favorite with New Yorkers.
Maybe you ARE on to something!

Hi, Lee. Hope you're doing well. Maybe I'm barking up the same tree again, but I think that the Yorkie is going to be the next big dog. I think pugs and dashhounds and boxers are on the way out. Seems like I see Yorkie pics in more and more ads and on treat bags. Am I just gnawing on an old dog biscuit or am I onto something? (Ok, sorry, but I couldn't resist...) Dawn

That's very interesting. I didn't notice that. Guess I'll have to read all of your novels to get to the Yorkie, eh? Anyone who loves dogs deserves to succeed. Take care. Dawn

Thanks, Dawn. There's a Yorkie in my 3rd novel. He just plays a minor role, though. The dog stars of my books appear in alphabetical order: Airedale, beagle, corgi, Dalmatian, English setter, fox terrier.

My next book will feature a greyhound.

Hi, Lee. Promise to check out your books next month. Got a huge TBR pile but I enjoy dog books. I'm looking forward to "lots of dogs". Are you considering self-publishing or looking for a new publisher? I'm looking at your book covers (which are great)and don't see a Yorkie. Some new lady readers may be attracted to a Yorkie cover. (I hope you're not gagging right now.) I DO refuse to allow a bow to be placed into my Silky terrier's fur: He's a boy dog.....despite his size and coloring. Take care. Best of luck!

I've been AWOL for a month, helping to take care of my ailing grandmother. She's made an amazing recovery for 93.

I hope you belong to a local mystery group (MWA or SIC) for some encouragement and support in this interim period.

Hi Lee. Hana, my "brat terrier" is just like Mickey in your blog. Leash aggression X 100! I'll have to read a copy of Kevin's book and try the tennis ball method.

Hi Lee, Thanks so much for the information. We'll give it a try.In all other respects Tilly is 'the perfect dog', and has even been learning search and rescue work. That's her in teh photo by the way. She's a Bedlington cross. We also have Dylan, a pure Bedlington Terrier, and Charlie, a Cairn/Westie cross. All were abused prior to finding a home with us, and we love them all very much.
Best regards
Brian

Hi Lee,

Thanks. tilly is my constant companin when i'm writing, (and always), but when someone knocks on teh door she goes ballistic and we have a job getting to the door. i think she is being over-protective of the family, and it's a real job to get her to stop barking. She also does it when I leave the house as if she doesn't want me to go without her. She is a rescue dog and was abused before we got her. We've seen a behaviorist who ghas tried averytihg from shakers to compressed air without success!
