About Me:
I have been a reader of hardboiled and noir literature, and recently branched out to police procedurals, capers and thrillers of the literary type. I hate cozies! I hate too much emphasis on family sentiment, our gang type of situationts and weepy heroes.

Books And Authors I Like:
Richard Stark(Westlake), The Big Three- Hammet, Macdonald, Chandler, Henning Mankell, Ed McBain, Lee Child, Lawrence Block's Keller, Highsmith, Rendell, Bruen, Dibdin, Estleman, Temple, Steinhauer, Rankin, McKinty, Oldham,Simmons, Peter Spiegelman,Bill James, Charlie Huston,James Patrick Hunt,Guthrie, Mick Herron and on and on.....
Movies And TV Shows I Like:
I loved The Departed, like all good crime films and am a nut for film noir. Most TV leaves me cold; a series begins well and then frequently goes downhill.

Welcome to my idiosyncratic crime lists...

I am really hooked on the old hard-boiled authors, noir and neo-noir, and the more hard-boiled police procedurals. After several years of reading, I discovered that I had compiled some interesting names and titles, and while they were not all inclusive, they showed a certain kind of taste and interest that I would like to share with other readers. They are strictly writers that I like the most and books that were more than just a good beach or airplane read. They might save some time for a few readers. I know I felt overwhelmed when I began to seriously search for the kinds of writers I liked to read because so many recommendations turned out to be a little or a great deal on the "cozy" side. I think much crime writing deserves serious consideration as an important literary genre. I hope that readers will take my lists in the spirit in which they are intended, a compilation that gave me a lot of pleasure and I hope will interest other lovers of the crime genre. Titles from your favorite list are welcome, but please bear in mind that if the authors are fairly well known I have already tried their books and did not include them because of the subjectivity of my tastes. I have divided the titles into four divisions: Police Procedurals, Detectives Professional and Amateur, Capers, Hit Men and Criminals and the older, classic Noir and Hardboiled Authors. Comments are welcome.

Early Endorsements for “A Circle of Souls”

Linda Fairstein, NYT Bestselling Author: "A fascinating debut - this novel takes the reader to the darkest places in the human soul, from a writer with the authenticity to lead us there. A stunning thriller and an important read."

Judge Judy Sheindlin, star of the Judge Judy Show: "The seminal work of this fine author kept me glued to my chair until the adventure was over and the mystery solved. A great read!"

Book Synopsis:

The sleepy town of Newbury, Connecticut, is shocked when a little girl is found brutally murdered. The town s top detective, perplexed by a complete lack of leads, calls in FBI agent Leia Bines, an expert in cases involving children.

Meanwhile, Dr. Peter Gram, a psychiatrist at Newbury s hospital, searches desperately for the cause of seven-year-old Naya Hastings devastating nightmares. Afraid that she might hurt herself in the midst of a torturous episode, Naya s parents have turned to the bright young doctor as their only hope.

The situations confronting Leia and Peter converge when Naya begins drawing chilling images of murder after being bombarded by the disturbing images in her dreams. Amazingly, her sketches are the only clues to the crime that has panicked Newbury residents. Against her better judgment, Leia explores the clues in Naya s crude drawings, only to set off an alarming chain of events.
In this stunning psychological thriller, innocence gives way to evil, and trust lies forgotten in a web of deceit, fear, and murder.

saying hello to my michigan family!

BTW, if you're a fiction reader, check out my books based in Detroit (all except Stone's Revenge, which is in Ohio). I'm a sensual noir author and I'm sure you'll enjoy them (not just because I wrote them, LOL.) Check out my books at by clicking here.
