Thanks, Don--I saw the note and just commented on it. In all honesty, I've gotten your same reaction so far from all my early readers, my editor, my publisher, and everyone I know who's read it. The book's probably not going to get a lot of marketing behind it in the US, but I think people who find it are going to really like it (or be horrified by it).

Gee Don you look very familiar have you ever done commercials for investment firms?

Thanks for the invite Don. I see we share similar taste in writers. Just met Megan Abbott the other day at the bookstore where I work. She's such a cute petite little thing -although she probably hates being called that. And Charlie Huston is a common sight at our store - love him!

Hi Don (again!) - sent you a mail / comment there about your new novel Ladykiller, which may have come as some surprise to you ... apologies, confusion reigns. Normal service will be resumed as soon as I get my head out of my fundament ... re: Quinn - really glad you liked it, and I can't understand why Seamus Smyth wasn't a big success in the US with it ... Cheers, Dec

Hi Don -

Thanks for dropping by my space ... glad you liked Quinn, it's not everyone's cup of tea but I think the narrative voice is so strong it grips you within a few pages.

I see we have Bruen, Pelecanos, Starr and McKinty in common, bookshelves-wise ... I'm reading The Dead Yard at the moment, just started last night ... I think the guy's a powerful writer, with a rare touch of authenticity. As a reader, I love him ... as a wannabe writer, I hate him. Which is a compliment of sorts ...

Thanks again for dropping by and making me feel welcome, I really appreciate it.

Cheers,

Dec

Don, the U. of Illinois and the surrounding towns are great places to live and work. I now feel "almost" like a native, although i grew up in Massachusetts.

Okay, okay, I get it.

The mouse morphed into Sam Waterston, one of my favorite curmudgeons. I can't wait to see who you become next week.
