Author update

I’m still coming down from the euphoria of three days in Chicago hanging with the best of the mystery and thriller writing community at Love is Murder! The panel I was on with Hank Phillippi Ryan and two other super writers got rave reviews, and I sat in on other presentations that taught me how to take fingerprints, go undercover and handle firearms like a pro. I even signed a couple books at the mass signing event. It was more fun than I can tell you, and I can’t wait to go back next…

The Finger in the Freezer & A Free E-Book

The Finger in the Freezer is the name of the flash fiction piece I'm submitting for Canadian horror writer Chris Allinotte's 9 Days of Madness anthology. The stories are sure to be full of blood and guts, spiced with some thought-provoking social commentary. I hope mine can be one of them.…

Would You Read a Novel Written in Three Days?

In most cases, I would say, "No" or "Only if I knew the author was already talented, just going through a coke relapse."

I don't know if Laura Roberts is taking sleigh rides between paragraph breaks, but I do know one thing. She wrote Rebels of the 512 in three days as part of a contest. Even a crackhead slamming keys for three incoherent days would have to admit that was an ambitious…

NPR on my crime novels Outsourced, Pariah and Small Crimes

NPR has been very good to me, and their recent review of my bank heist novel, Outsourced, is no exception. Here is what they've said so far about 3 of my crime novels:

Outsourced "a dark gem of a story...a macabre delight to read"

Pariah "as nasty and clever as noir can get"

Small Crimes "The plot of Small Crimes ricochets out from this claustrophobic opening, and it's a thing of sordid beauty." on selecting Small Crimes as one of the top 5 crime and mystery novels of…

Distractions

I’ve been a member of several writers’ critique groups over the years and I’ve come to realize a major factor in each group’s downfall has been the lack of writers. This may seem quite logical, but it’s true for any group. Knitters, martial artists, foreign language studies, puzzlers…if you are a part of a group and aren’t involved in the activity, the group suffers. A few more lackadaisical people and the group collapses, becomes less fun, or has less worth for those who are…
