first. What took them so long to cross the ocean is anyone’s guess, but I am

glad someone had the sense to bring it over here. Busted Flush Press has been

nice enough to get them into our hands and I for one am very…

Yes, a Thriller Has to Be Thrilling. But It Can Also be Literature

A lot of people, but especially self-proclaimed book snobs,

create a kind of false distinction between thrillers (and other forms of

so-called “genre” fiction such as romance and sci-fi) and what they like to

call “literary fiction.”

Genre fiction, they say, is plot driven. Literary fiction is “character driven.”…

Howard Cherry is one of Roy Rogers’ biggest fans. He befriended Rogers decades ago, and, over the years, Cherry has purchased some of Roy’s movie costumes, hats, and revolvers.

The two men are the same size, so from time to time Cherry dons a Rogers outfit for a photo shoot.

Now here’s the surprise. Cherry owns the Hopalong Cassidy Museum in Cambridge, Ohio – Cassidy, another cowboy movie, radio, and television hero.

The autumn morning was ablaze with the orange and red of the oak and maple trees that covered the undulating hills that lined the road. A gentle breeze wafted lazily through the woods, making a soft whispering sound. Fluffy clouds dotted the light blue sky.

Two men, dressed in green and black camouflage suits and carrying 30/30 rifles, stood idly beside the two lane blacktop road, looking back up the slope… Continue
