Time spent with the Anne Arundel County Public Library annual Staff Day was a high point of my year. Nothing could top giving a well-received speech to 240 lovers of the written word, but signing almost a book a minute during the half-hour break after my talk came very close. Several of them stayed for a writing workshop after lunch, and that was kinda fun too!

Fellow crime writer Morgan Mandel posted a review on Amazon.com praising Collateral Damage, focused primarily on the protagonist, Hannibal Jones, who she found to be both powerful and compassionate. Because she so clearly stated all the things that she thinks make a hero great, I’ve posted her words as the featured review on my web site. Check it out! http://www.ascamacho.com

I had a wonderful time at the Black Authors & Readers Rock Weekend, put on by the Reading Divas book club. A highlight was being on a panel with NY Times Bestseller Mary Monroe, but there were too many others to recount. Friday’s reception. Powerful readings. A great lunch. A hundred avid readers and a few authors doing The Wooble. Don’t take my word for it. The event was covered very well in an article in The Examiner. …

Shoshana Hathaway posted this 5-star review for Collateral Damage on Amazon:
“Austin S. Camacho delivers, once again, in this fast paced impeccably written, Hannibal Jones thriller. This time, we see the more than capable Mr. Jones beset, bothered, bewildered, and even disconcerted. What starts out as a back yard barbecue in his neighborhood turns into one very large domestic abuse issue, and one seemingly simple missing persons case which turns into murder ...and then becomes…

Betsy Riley posted this 5 star review of Blood and Bone on Amazon: “More twists than a Chubby Checker concert! I didn't know the ride I was in for when I picked up Blood and Bone. This book makes me want to read the rest of the series as soon as I can get my hands on them. And I can't believe Hannibal Jones is not already a movie character or TV series. This is a hero everyone can root for, but not a superhero--he has realistic flaws, which just add to the enjoyment. I'm still dizzy from the…

Lance Knight posted this 5-star review on Amazon: “The Troubleshooter by Austin S. Camacho was a real page turner for me. The author obviously researched and planned the overall story, resulting in a great deal of detail concerning each of his main characters...each so distinctly individual. Hannibal was believable and fascinating albeit somewhat bulletproof. I came to be captured by his tough guy description as he met every obstacle head-on without regard to his own safety. So he was the…

I had a great time and did a lot of valuable networking at the Western Maryland Indie Lit festival. The panels were fun, and I signed some books, but the best part was discussing the publishing business with a dozen other small publishers. Took some good photos too, so check our Facebook page.
