ZELTSERMAN TELLS ALL TO VINCENT ZANDRI

Our last names both start with Z making David Zeltserman and I blood brothers in some native cultures far away from here. But geography alone wouldn't keep me from calling this exceptional talent my bro. He's also my brother at StoneGate Ink where he's just signed a deal for two books plus a special edition combo with yours truly. THE INNOCENT/DYING MEMORIES, should hit the cyber shelves soon. He's also a hero of sorts. I've been following his stuff for a long time…

Noir Legend in the Making: Heath Lowrance

I might not be the most religious or spiritual guy on the planet, and chances are, on any given Sunday you won't find me occupying a church pew. Fact is you're more likely to find me tipping a cold one in some dark juke joint with friends after my writing day is over. But every now and then I meet someone who has an almost spiritual affect on me. A spiritual affect so profound that it can alter the course of my life. Noted noir author and critic, Heath Lowrance, is one of those special…

How to Write a "Great" Agent Query!

I no longer have to write query letters to agents.

That part of my life is over. I have a great agent now and plan on spending the rest of my life with him. I can't tell you how happy that makes me.

I wasn't always good at writing agent query letters. It took a lot of practice honing the essential information I needed to include in the letter and to be…

The End of the Book Signing Battle...The End of the Big Book Store!

The battle is over, the bombs dropped, the shots fired, the smoke cleared, the dead lay scattered across the battlefield, the wounded picked up and carted out to the mobile hospitals. Me, I sit with my back up against the trench, face hot and dirty from the soil that sticks to my sweat, my breath beginning to even out, lit cigarette danging from trembling fingers.

Yesterday was the day I wanted to see if I could sell more books online than I could at a traditional signing. As you…

Are Literary Agents Required Anymore?

Every year a new surprise breakout author rises up from the ashes of literary despair. In the past we've seen JK Rowling and James Frey fill the bill. But this year’s breakout author is different in some pretty remarkable aspects. Not only is she self-published, yet she works with an established literary agent. Her name is Amanda Hocking and she's a 26 year paranormal YA author who not only has one book listed on the USA Today Top 150 bestseller's List, she's got half a dozen.

Her…

Heartless, Greedy, Bastards!!!

It's sometimes a little daunting seeing nothing but 5-Star reviews being posted for one of your noir novels. And believe me, that ain't no boast because I've gotten my share of "you suck(s)" during my time as an author.

But these recent reviews for THE INNOCENT are sweeter than normal since they're for a re-released novel that used to be called…

GODCHILD Gets 5-Stars from Harriet Klausner

The funny thing about newly re-released novels on Kindle and E-Book is that you can dust off some pretty tasty reviews that went largely unnoticed when the big ass publisher decided to remainder the book for one corporate reason or another...So here is a stellar review on my new release…

Vincent Zandri: Sponsored by Budwesier

Lately there's been talk amongst publishers, agents, and authors alike that E-Books might one day be offered to the public for free (ok, I know this is happening now, but I mean ALL E-Books). Instead of the reader paying the author/publisher, sponsors will pay in exchange for product placement inside the text. Since the books are read via electronic reader, readers will be able to link to specific product websites, and even to that author's own books should the opportunity present…

When the Kindle will be No More!

Last night I watched The Book of Eli on Netflix. It was about a man who must walk across the US in a post apocalyptic period in which a great war has ravaged the world, decimating its populations. What's also apparently happened is that books were burned. Lots of them. Especially Bibles and all manners of scripture no matter their religion, since it was religion that sparked the great final conflict in the first place. Go figure.

There is only one more King James Bible left on the…

The Kindle and the (Ladies) Book Club!

I was invited to be the guest author at a local ladies book club this past week. I don't mean "ladies" in a demeaning or male chauvinist sort of way. By "ladies" I just mean that no men are invited to this particular book club. And because no men are invited the ladies like to dress up the way they want, drink what they want (and a lot of it!), and chat loudly about whatever they want, whether it…

Kindles offer Endless Possibilties for Authors/Readers/Publishers

Remember the days when you'd sign a major contract, get a big ass check in the mail, and just spend a year or so partying like a rock star in New York or Los Angeles or Lincoln, Nebraska for that matter? There was nothing else to do because after all, your book probably wouldn't be hitting the shelves until at least a year from contract execution.

I remember my original editor for…

X-Mas Day is D-Day!

It's Christmas Eve 2010.

D-Day for the digital E-Book Revolution. On this day and in particular, tomorrow, Christmas Day, more Kindle, Nooks, E-Readers and more will be

unwrapped and put to use than on any other single previous day. Not only

will there be a rush to purchase E-Books, but more will be sold

Crash Landing in New York!!!

I barely made it out of Europe the weather was so horrid. Torrential

rains in Florence, snowstorms in Germany. Rain and wind in Philly, and

in Albany, ex-wives and now, an ex-girlfriend. Gas is 50 cents more than

when I left a month ago. The indy bookstore at which I'm supposed to

sign first editions of The Remains tomorrow has decided to also book an

ex-local news anchor who self-published a book about doing, well, the

local news. I just went to the store and its… Continue

A Month in Tuscany!

Sounds like the title to a cheesy romance novel

doesn't it. You know, writer comes to Italy to be alone and work on a

new novel, and meets up with some ravishing Italian woman who is years

younger, unbelievably drop-dead gorgeous, and can't speak a lick of

English other than something like, "You rock!." So even if she's angry

with you, she screams, "You rock, VEEENcent! You very very rock!"

Something like that.

Ok, I'm not going to comment on whether… Continue
