Review: Stalk Me by Richard Parker

That evening began much like any other.  Luc and Beth Jordan on holiday, not only recuperating from an attack on Beth by a mugger, but taking a break from the stresses of purchasing their new home.  They were on their way to have dinner at a favorite restaurant, Beth at the wheel, and Luc amused at something on his cell.  The road ahead was clear, and…

Why Jack?

Wandering through the true crime section of the library today, I noticed an entire section devoted to Jack the Ripper.  While I have seen that before in stores and libraries, the one in our local branch seems to be quite excessively large, considering that as far as I know, he has never been positively identified.

I have to wonder why the fascination.  I also have to admit that I have read quite a number of books about those particular murders and have seen quite a number of…

DON'T JUST HAVE YOUR CHARACTER COMMIT A MURDER. HAVE HIM COMMIT A MURDER. WHAT? (FROM THE FORUM)

At I.J.'s suggestion, I am placing the blog in its entirety here.  Thanks, I.J.

Are there different 'categories' of murder?  You bet there are.  Let's broaden our killing horizons.

When you write crime fiction and your plot includes a murder, what kind of murder do you use in your story?  Now, I’m not referring to how your character gets bumped off (i.e., shot, stabbed, etc.).  I’m talking about the various ’categories’, if you will, of murder  Let me…

Pay Dim Tim and Jukebox Johnny a Visit!

My story, Dim Tim and Jukebox Johnny, won 2nd place in Eric Beetner's contest. The theme of the story was to be a FIST, and was sort of spawned from his new book, Too Many Blows To The Head.

This was great fun to write, and hopefully, just as much fun to read. My story is up today on his blog, so if you have a bit of time, check it out. There's also info on his book and a killer trailer for it too. Enjoy!

NaNoWriMo2009?

Here we are again. I did it last year and yes, it's taken a lot of time, but my project is almost ready to shop around. I completed another 50,000+ word project on another site during the month of January, and I've already contracted to have that one published. While it is great fun AND a lot of hard work, it does pay. If you take it seriously and just get it written, then go back to it later and spruce it up, it's amazing what you can find.

Anyone ready to do it again this year? I'm… Continue

Favorite Scene of the Crime?

What's your favorite scene of the crime? Do you like a dark, deserted, spooky old mansion with a mile long driveway that's ten miles from the nearest town? Do you like a crowded subway in downtown New York City during rush hour? No witnesses? One witness? A hundred witnesses?

I like for my 'killers' to be rather on the bold side. People, generally speaking, are not really good witnesses to a crime, with the shock and all, and descriptions of what happened and who they saw usually end… Continue
