Opened up my e-mail this morning to see that author/reviewer Chantal Boudreau had reviewed all four of the Maynard Soloman short stories. She loved 'em even though crime fiction humor isn't her normal cup of tea. It's proof the Ol' Badger has what it takes to reach beyond genre boundaries.
She writes:
Detective stories are…

B.R. Stateham cranks out the kind of volume usually reserved for meat grinders and garage bands. I'm talkin' numbers and intensity. The guy produces more work at a consistently high quality than any crime author I know. So much so that I named his style "red meat crime fiction." Fans know his…

These aren't New Year's resolutions. These are goals. Because resolutions are made to be broken, and goals are more attainable. Unless you're referencing my brief career as the Shuffling Log on a track and field team. Then, not so attainable.
These are the five things I hope to accomplish before the calendar turns to 2013 (or the world blows up Dec. 12). Authors out there, feel free to grab this list idea and run with it. I'm interested to know what other people have…

Just wrote a review of Debbi Mack's newest crime novel in the Sam McRae series. It's called, Riptide, although the title could change. I slammed that sucker down in two days. One of the most enjoyable reads I've had all year.
It's not out yet, though, so I can't release the review. I got the ARC. Yep, I'm going to brag about that. This is a novel worth being a dick about.
Until then, here's…

1) Amazon Ranking
Maynard Soloman Proves Santa Claus is Real had a nice day on Amazon. It started around #450,000 and jumped up to #30,000. This may have been because Maynard sent gifts to the people on his "nice" list. Details…

The Flash Fiction Offensive published my crime flash fiction piece, Wine Into Water. Here's the first part:
It was shouting "faggot" on the school bus. Bolting off with me at my stop. Stalking me home. Twisting my bones on the sidewalk. Kicking me black. Saying, "This is a test."…

It's a question that has dogged humans for centuries: Is Santa Claus real?
Fortunately, the world's crustiest and most profane detective, Maynard Soloman, has "put the pin" on this problem. After an intense encounter at church - some would call it a divine revelation - Maynard has the answer. In fact, he has proof.…

Maynard Soloman is an old crusty badger of a detective with a potty-mouth straight outta 1932. Throughout his short story series, he's had some big cases. Yet none of them come close to his most recent in the e-book, Maynard Soloman Proves Santa Claus is Real.
Exactly how he does this involves a drunk hound dog, an eccentric church and a baseball…
