Want to come over and play?

Okay

We're probably bats, but

It seemed like a good idea at the time.

Ever wanted to have a go at a themed short story?

Ever wanted to participate in a serial novel online?

Ever wondered what the hell she's talking about this time....

Review - Maigret and the Idle Burglar

Penguin have released a range of classics under the "labelling" of Red Classics. From their website:

"From

the Da Vinci Code to Jonathan Strange, from chick lit to crime, there

are so many bestsellers bursting onto the scene every week it can be

hard to decide what's actually good, as well as being a good read. The

sort of book that might change the way you think and feel forever, as

well as making your train journey home a bit more… Continue

Review - The End of Mr Y, Scarlett Thomas

Every now and then you get a review book that just takes you somewhere

you never thought you'd go. This year I've been really lucky to read a

few of these - Let the Right One In by John Ajvide Lindvquist and now

The End of Mr Y by Scarlett Thomas is something I didn't think I'd ever

read, and something I would have expected to actually like even less!

I've had a few requests recently for recommendations on where to start /
which authors people might like in the Australian / New Zealand scene so
I've started a listing:

Scarlet Stiletto - The First Cut

I mentioned earlier I think that I've been reading this great anthology of short stories from the Local Sisters in Crime Chapter - I've finally started making very restricted comments at:

http://www.austcrimefiction.org/node/2678

It's hard to say too much about each individual story without giving too much away - but this is a fabulous selection of short stories.

even though my feet hurt and my head is stuffed with cotton wool from
the cold I caught... another great year which we'll slowly report on in
more detail over the next few days. In the meantime - a final summary:
