Columbia Book Festival by Margot Justes

Southern hospitality is alive and well and greatly represented in Columbia, South Carolina.

I spent last weekend at the Columbia Book Festival. What a delight. First and foremost, people are wonderful, friendly, warm, helpful and welcoming.

Here I am, a new unknown author, selling my first book-more often than not, the response was, well I just have to buy your new book and see if I like it.

I was amazed at the generosity and kindness of the reading public. And they read, and if they like your style, they will be back to buy your next book. In fact, I did not hear one unkind word while I was there. From the hotel staff to people at the airport, and anyone I met in between.

I am a tourist at heart, and unfortunately I did not get to the Civil War Museum, but did make it to the Capital building and the surrounding gardens.

Lovingly kept up, the gardens already had a few blooming daffodils, palmettos, and a delightful copper statue of a palmetto in the center to welcome one and all.

I plan to return.

Till next Saturday,
