I'm still on dial-up after a full week of trying to get my wireless back. Last week I whined about how hard it is, but here is the up-side of lousy Internet service:
I had a whole week in which I could only write the story. There was no stopping to look up spellings, exact dates, and battle locations, which means my WIP has a lot of *** markings for me to go back to later. Still, the story is what counts, and it's kind of "non-distracting" to have ONLYstory in mind. It will be interesting to see how it all works out once I am able to put in the correct details, but I like ticking along at such a rapid pace.
Secondly, there is NO temptation to quit working and check my email. As slow as dial-up is after working on wireless, it's torture to go online. I get lots more "real" writing done. I've even been deleting the funny stuff people send me because it's too slow-moving to enjoy, so I'm not wasting writing time watching the latest YouTube video or whatever.
So I've gotten a lot done in my week away from the joys of the Internet. But now I'm ready to be connected again. Really, really ready.
