One of the reasons I love Crimespot is that I can quickly scan and see if there's a topic of interest that's being discussed that I want to read about - instead of taking the time to actually go around to a bunch of different sites, waiting for them to be updated.

One of the shortcomings of aggregators, however, is that they don't filter content. You still have to scan it to see what all the posts are about, and sometimes the short teaser doesn't give the complete picture.

Enter A Daily Miscellany of Links. Culled from popular crime fiction forums, blogs and websites, Brian's providing regular round-ups of what's worthy of note. One of the best things about it is that his reading is varied, covering a lot of blogs that aren't on Crimespot. Brian's own interests are purely as a reader and reviewer. He doesn't limit his reading to the genre alone, or to the mainstream authors everyone's heard of. It's a great idea, and I think it's great someone's willing to look beyond newspapers as review sources or writings of note and pulling up the stuff of merit on blogs, forums and in ezines.
