So, last night, I watched my beloved Florida Gators dispose of Ohio State for the NCAA Basketball Championship, and it got me thinking. Well, to be completely honest, just about anything gets me thinking, but that's beside the point.

For those of you not familiar with the Gators story, let me bore you with the details. Last season, a group of unknown Sophomores were charged with replacing some of the most talented, yet selfish, players in Florida history. Not much was expected of these guys, as they weren't as highly touted coming out of high school as the acclaimed players they were replacing.

They started the season unranked and began an unlikely journey that ended with the first basketball National Championship in school history. Four of the starting players dubbed themselves the oh-fours, as they were all part of the 2004 recruiting class. By the end of the season, three of them were pegged as sure-fire high NBA draft picks if they chose to leave Florida for richer pastures, and when I say richer, I mean RICHER! They stood to make millions by leaving, but a funny thing happened on the way to the bank. All four of the oh-fours, who just happened to room together on campus, decided to return to Florida for the 2006-2007 season. It was an almost inconceivable decision, and many pundits didn't totally buy it until the draft declaration deadline came and went.

These four guys cared so much about each other and enjoyed each others company and the overall college experience so much, that they put off fame and fortune for a chance at another National Championship, and a chance to just hang out together for one more year. They entered the current season as marked men, and drew every opponent's absolute best effort. It was a trying campaign, but in the end, they pulled off something that hadn't been accomplished since 1992 and has only been done by seven teams in NCAA history. They won back to back National Championships. It is truly a story for the ages, and could only be pulled off by true comrades.

So, I was sitting down to write earlier, and I started to get lonely. Writing will do that to you sometimes. It can be lonely work. No one can sit there and cheer you on or encourage you while you're tapping away on the keys. I lose myself in the process sometimes. It's just how I work.

Anyway, when I finished writing, I thought I'd bop over here for a little comradery. You know, read a few blogs, make a few comments, write a few e-mails. It's something we all need as human beings, and something we don't always get as writers. So, get out there. Go to workshops, conferences, bookstores, websites, or anywhere else you can find like-minded people. It'll do you good in the long run...I promise.
