The ancient brotherhood of the Illuminati has emerged to carry out it’s vendetta against the Catholic Church.

While Brown’s plots may be a bit over the top, they are a wonderful balance of action and suspense, offset with history and, in this case, the old philosophical question of science versus religion. Any book that can make one think is well worth the cover price. And it’s a fun read with a well-constructed plot.
