When I read on Lisa Morton's blog that a collector had unloaded a large number of vintage Westlake/Stark books at The Iliad bookshop, I knew I was doomed. In spite of my overdeveloped sense of birthday entitlement, I refrained from going completely hogwild with the credit card. I fondled and cooed and lusted over many rare signed editions, but in the end I walked away with a stack of three more modestly priced prizes. A signed movie edition of THE OUTFIT (now the smash MGM movie starring Robert Duvall!), a decent reader copy of THE BLACK ICE SCORE and CHINA TRAMP, a breathlessly racist and amazing sleaze title that is attributed to Westlake. "Jade lust was what he wanted, a beautiful slant-eyed sinner…" Wow!

PS - I seem to be unable to post links on my blog on Crimespace. If you are really dying to read this post in its entire fully linked glory, go to my regular blog at:

http://faustfatale.livejournal.com/

Incidentally, I tend to omit the more personal drivel from my Crimespace blog. I figure anyone who wants to read all my day-to-day foolishness is welcome to do so over at LiveJournal. However, if this post causes a massive outcry from readers who want the day-to-day foolishness over here too, I'll be happy to oblige.

Now, if only I can get this weird link problem figured out...
