I've been back from a trip to Long Island and the NYC since Sunday. This trip was disappointing in that I had a bunch of short stories cooking up and all I got done during my vacation, was a couple of paragraphs. As things became busier and hectic, I wound up putting pretty much everything on the backburner.

It's hard to get anything accomplished when so much is going on and there is so much to be done, that it almost makes me not want to take another vacation. Worse, there was very little to inspire me in New York in terms of crime writing, other than annoying gypsy cabs and people trying to get run over by taxis.

The most disheartening aspect of this all is that the misery that my job causes, actually fuels my crime writing. I hope I won't have to keep working soul-sucking jobs, just to maintain momentum throughout my writing career.
