Today I received an offer from a Hungarian publisher for the first book in my series. They say, they like the whole series, but the economy is bad there, so they are only buying the first. I'm greatly "chuffed" by their interest. The whole eastern bloc has been amazingly supportive.

Gratulálok!!

Overseas sales may not lead to domestic contracts, but keep the roll going and they're be hard to ignore.

Hmm, yes. We're working at it. Especially on Italy and Spain. :) And the Scandinavian countries would also be great. (I can dream).

Let's hope this is the beginning a full bore sweep of Europe, to be followed by the world.

Good luck.

Thanks all. Much appreciated. Yes, B.R., it is the Akitada series. I have yet to sell another. Actually, I haven't even started another. The other books are a non-mystery trilogy (destined for Kindle) and an 18th century literary thriller (contradiction in terms, but it's got an assassin and is heavy on symbolism).
Dan, foreign rights sales do not affect domestic sales. I need a domestic sale.

Very nice, IJ. I've yet to make any foreign sales, so I'm filld with envy.

Congrats! I assume this is the Akitada series and not the new one you mentioned you were working on.

Congratulations. Here's hoping it's a big hit and the rest of the series follows.
