Hi,

I'm looking to put together a list of crime / mystery novels where bombs or an explosion set the scene.

I'm drawing a bit of a blank. Any ideas?

The Secret Agent by Joseph Conrad
Death Comes for the Fat Man by Reginald Hill

Thanks

Susan Choi's a terrific writer, for any who haven't read her stuff.

As long as there is a big old explosion it counts!

Love the cover of the Mariner version of Dirty Sweet.

Thanks, Kim

Elmore Leonard's Freaky Deaky opens with a bomb and a bomb squad detective is a main character. Also, his 52 Pick-Up features a bomb, though it doesn't "set the scene."

There's a bomb in my own, Dirty Sweet, but again it doesn't start the book.

Thank you!

These are both wonderful additions and I found a few others the list is growing....

A Person of Interest by Susan Choi
Demolition Angel by Robert Crais
Blood Rain by Michael Dibdin
Act of Treason by Vince Flynn
The Dark Tide by Andrew Gross

Hmm. Well, Hot Money by Dick Francis involves a death by bomb, but it's not at the beginning of the book. Don't know if it meets your needs.
