Here's something curious; go through all the member photos. Pick those whom you think are authors, and then writers, and then readers only, and then agents.

See a pattern? I think there is. Author photos are different from everyone else's.

What do you think?

Since I don't believe in book tours, the opportunities of meeting readers are slim. I have a web site and an e-mail address for fans, and I enjoy hearing from them. I answer all their e-mails as soon as I get them.

I.J. I think a fans' imaginations always create a face of what their favorite author looks like. Better to show them the real thing so when those times come and you meet'em, there's no surprises. Eh?

You mean "businesslike"? Well, mine's an old passport photo, chosen mainly because it looks better. :) I'm vain about photos. My books don't contain my photo because I always felt that what the author looks like (or his/her gender) were immaterial.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but 'authors' being more press-ready type photos?

I don't follow. Maybe you'd better explain.
