<p>I remember being so jealous of my first author friend, who was published about a year before I was. I love her work, and I knew she deserved it, but darn it! Why couldn't it be me?</p>

<p>When I read the first sentence of this post, I had to laugh (a small, sad laugh) because I've been thinking the same thing lately. You wrote from the perspective of a published author. Trust me, it's way worse when your novels haven't been accepted for publication - yet. There are so many mystery writers out there; the competition is incredible!</p>
