Well, sadly Bill, Scotland cannot claim Japan as its own. How about a bit of Simple Minds instead? Or Ultravox (a push, since only Midge Ure was actually Scottish)? Eurythmics? Any of those do you? :o) I am to please so pray tell me your favourite :o)
Laura - I hate that picture. I do not have a body for t-shirts :o) It was a WONDERFUL experience and one which I shall treasure. I had a great time, everyone was lovely, and I embarrassed myself by crying during my speech...but then, I ALWAYS cry :o)
OOO!! I like those. Not sure about the kitten heel though. I get sore feet from impractical low heels. Three inch heights or nothing. I will have to see if I have any other pretty shoes (well I know I have other pretty shoes but not sure I have pictures of them).
Heading off to go see sister - black suede shoes maybe? I would wear the Guccis but my sister is real sick and they are so happy that I am not sure they would be a good choice. Decisions, decisions.
Lynne - for someone who lives in a cold climate I have a lot of impractical shoes that would be perfect for Hawaii including some Red or Dead shoes (I've put a picture in the wee box (I shall have to take them away tomorrow, I feel weird with shoes in there!). Mine are the same rainbow stripes but have no backs and a smaller kitten heel.
Merlot - yes I DO have all his films, plus couple of shorts. There are a couple of REAL duds, but even some of the very early ones are great - especially one called HOT SATURDAY. The best book I have read about him is Graham McCann's A CLASS APART which is excellent.
Oooh, Donna!
Do you really have all Cary Grant's films?
I just got a wonderful book about him-Cary Grant, A Celebration of Style, by Richard Torregrossa.
HUGE SIGH.
Why don't they make men like that any more?
Drat! And we don't need a lot of hot shoes for Hawaii. Twenty or so pairs should do us. Lets see - you bring the polka dot ones, I will bring the Guccis and the Jimmy Choos (they are perfect for the islands). Now what else? I have lace and suede running shoes in case we need really practical but still cute. Oh I have a pair with green beading - they might do.
Perfect! I can borrow yours then! And vice versa of course :o) The polka dot ones are Linea Paolo from Nordstroms and they are VERY comfortable despite the 4 inch heels. I had a very pleasant shopping experience there in Seattle. I sat there, pointed out shoes and a salesman brought them all to me. It was like having my own personal shopper. He even gave me his card. Maybe because I bought 2 pairs of shoes and 2 pairs of boots. I would love to make Bloody Words in 2008 but I am probably being conventionless in 2008 - I'm going to Alaska this year and plan to go to Hawaii for LCC in 2009 so I think I am going to have to save my pennies!
My feet are short and wide so I wear anything from a seven to an eight and a half (NA sizing). Not sure what that is in UK - usually a 38 in European size is good. The Guccis are a bit long so would (and have) fit fine on a size 9 foot. Not much good for Jen though. Her feet are too small
I need the polkadot shoes. I have a dress that they would be perfect for. When did you say you will be in Toronto again? Bloody Words in June of 2008 would be good - I think Merlot and Jen are at least thinking about visiting then. I have more shoes too (like you I find it hard to travel without at least three pair for each day)
Lynne - how yummy they are - I love the brown ones too. I've put a pair of my favourites in the photo thingy. The picture was taken by the lovely Mary Reagan, who knows I don't like pics of my face, but that I love my shoes. I think I have a photo of another pair I can put there too if I can find it. What size feet do you have and when are you next going to a convention? LOL
I have a picture somewhere and I do so remember you. We chatted a few minutes about the brat (aka my baby adopted e-sister Jen Nightingale). You were very lovely in all respects. Now to find the shoes --- will put the picture on my picture thingy on here.
Bill - Well, all I can say is "I'm free!" And did I mention that I have all 72 Cary Grant films? The screwball comedies are my favourite of course. And who DOESN'T like Sinatra? Although I have to say that Dean Martin is my favourite Rat Packer.
Lynne - I think yiou have me mixed up with someone with less chins, LOL.. Do you have a picture of the Guccis? They sound lovely!
Having seen you at Bouchercon here many moons ago, I doubt somehow that a bikini would be too frightening. As for shoes --- the Guccis would be good for movie watching or for shopping. They are great shopping shoes. Service improves the minute you put them on.
Oooooh Bill, you have me pegged. Myrna Loy is one of my 3 favourite actresses (the others being Bette Davis and Carole Lombard). I love the Powell and Loy films, and also Mr Blandings Builds His Dream House with Myrna Loy and Cary Grant - wonderful film. It's just that my stocmach is big enough to accomodate Margaret Rutherford.
Lynne, I think I can manage to squeeze the Guccis in, thank you. And William, I shall bring flipflops for the beach and stilettos to watch movies in. And the bikini? Errrrrr, nooooooooooooo. I'm thinking more muumuu. Angelina Jolie looks good in a bikini, Catherine Zeta Jones looks good in a bikini, Penelope Cruz looks good in a bikini. I, on the other hand, look like I ate Angelina for breakfast, Catherine for lunch and Penelope for dinner. And still had room for Margaret Rutherford :o)

Sister is not good but we did our visit and that is that for now. Such is life - right? Some days shine, some suck.
