Yes. Very hard. Sorry about your loss, Kendall.
Getting reader reactions is very helpful. My group tells me the truth, thank God. Readers who are afraid to say what they think and instead use flattery are useless.
Hi I.J. I was widowed too--a very hard thing seeing your best friend slowly dying and unable to do anything about it.
I'm sneaky, since I have a group too, but would like to get a heads up ahead of time.
hehehehe
Hi, Kendall! I used to be married to a Texan. (Not divorced. Widowed. He was super.)
I found you when checking the crit partners thing. It sounded interesting, but I'm still involved with a writers group. Alas, none of them writes mystery and sometimes I wish they did. I hope you find what you need.
Hi Kendall, Dana told me to go ahead and spill the beans on why McCall Smith isn't the GOH for B'con this year. It was news to me, too... here is what she said happened:
DANA STABENOW: You can tell the truth about McCall Smith--that he agreed unconditionally to
attend, and then six months out tried to hold us up for an honorarium and a first class ticket. I told him we could probably muddle along without his august presence. I don't think he was expecting that. Too bad."
Ah, there were many who went beyond disappointment when McCall Smith cancelled this year's B'con (I fear he lost more than he realized from that decision), and I was not privy to what changed the schedule. We're excited about Tom Perry coming! Wish you were, too!
Nice to meet you, Kendall. This is such an interesting place. I bet it's nice being married to a fellow writer--they'd understand everything you're going through, good and bad.
