Ah, I see, going out and dragging them in. I hadn't thought of that one. But hey, if it works! I do usually have fun once I'm there, and the employees are always nice. Thanks, Jeff, I'm getting ready to do a couple so this encouragement helps. I love it here!
As Robert said, you won't have a problem attracting a crowd at your book signings. But even if no one showed up there will always be the book store employees that you can schmooze and stock to sign. I'd been to a signing where I had to go out into the parking lot and drag the people into the store to buy my book. Might've been pushing that one a bit. But I always manage to have fun and that’s what counts.
With the number of books you have under your belt, Linda, it is hard to imagine you won't pull a crowd at your signings. Best of luck to you - I have you on my tbr stack now. Bob
Thanks, Jackie, but I'm not counting on that! LOL Hope I have that to look forward to someday, though. Meanwhile, I sweat blood before every one. ; ) Nice to meet you!
You won't be bugging me, not in the least. Keep in touch. I'd like that. That's why I'm here--to talk to other writers and readers. And I'm really enjoying it, too!
I've never been to Hawaii but your island is where my son and his wife went on their honeymoon. They fell in love with it. I'll take you up on that surfing lesson, too, if I ever make it over there. I used to play tennis and water ski to beat the band but age is catching up with me. However, I will go surfing, if you'll get me on and give me a push like your five-year-old. : )
Linda,
Yes! I surf. What's much more amazing is that my five-year-old surfs. Sometimes I put her on my board. Sometimes she does it by herself. (Give her a shove shoreward at the right time...natch. She can ride 'em like crazy, but can't get started.)
I live in Hanalei, possibly the most beautiful beach in the world, where everyone surfs. If you ever visit, I'll have you up standing on a board in thirty minutes--it's a kick. I'm no big athelete, believe me, but we all surf, outrigger canoe race, windsurf, sail, scuba dive...even us shy author types. Ocean is just too beautiful to resist.
Mahalo for the encouraging words. I don't want to bug you, so I'll just keep watching for your books.
Hi Cheryl--it's nice to meet you! I'm glad you enjoyed Head to Head. Dark Places, the second Claire Morgan book, is hitting book stores as we speak! It looks like you're doing pretty good--what a great cover! I wrote about 20 romances before I switched genres to mystery/thrillers. Most of my romances were bestsellers but it was really hard to make the switch, after being pigeon-holed as a romance writer. My novels still have a strong romance element, but the emphasis is on the investigation and how the serial killer evolved. I'm building from the ground up at the moment, but I am having a ball! I do love all this creepy stuff! Wish I was in Hawaii with you! Do you really surf?
So honored, Linda. I loved Head to Head. Do you have any wisdom for a mystery novelist with one book published in a series? Were your first few years tough? What helped you persevere?
Hi Linda
Thanks for the invite. Your books are on my TBB list - they sure sound like good reads.
Looking forward to hearing more.
WTG on your reviews!

Hi Linda,
I drive through Forest, MS a lot, usually on the way to a hiking trail in Bienville Nat'l Forest. Standing in Seely Lake, MT, while my GF Colleen snapped that photo. (Gotta love that icy snowmelt water!)
No not topgun - I was a helicopter pilot for 20 years. I hurt my back at the 18 yr. point and have no interest in flying anymore. Thank you for your kind comment.
My ex and I used to go to the areas around Lake of the Ozarks frequently. It seems like there are a lot of woodworking crafts around there. Many pieces built in Black Walnut, probably my all-time favorite wood.
Now I want to go buy your books and add them to the mountain of crime fiction I'm reading this summer!
Hello, Linda. I'm with Kensington also. (Actually the Citadel imprint, since my book is non fiction) Not only that, but my agent is Crimespace member Janet Reid.

Thanks for the invite. Twenty-one novels is quite an accomplishment!
