Thanks for the invite. Well, I hope that another French person depressed by politics will not be too much for you to bear :-))) Judith summed up the situation pretty well, I think. + French detective fiction writers and readers being often liberal, you will not find many of us to support either Le Pen or Sarkozy. :-)
It must be a different tai kwon do -- we do not have a brown belt in what she is in. Kicker is my middle child - 16 year old daughter and she has been doing this for 8 months now. Went from white to orange to yellow stripe, yellow, green stripe and is green now. Has blue stripe, blue, red stripe, red, black stripe, black and then the various levels of that still in front of her.
We have 5 kids, three of whom are boys. The oldest is 21 and works out so all he does really is study, work out and eat (well and hang out with friends but that usually involves eating too). The 16 eats all the time. The 14 year old (second boy) eats as 14 year olds do - constantly. Only the 10 year old gives us break. Oh and the second oldest? She is 19 and a vegetarian in a household of carnivores. Adds a whole new level to figuring out what to buy or cook.
I love your books - Sleuth got them in for me last spring and I am very much looking forward to the third
Love it when you said 'when my kids get hungry they find me'. Mine are finally old enough that when they now get hungry they raid the fridge. Easier on me - horrid on the cheque book.
The clock is SO messed up. Or have I landed in an alternate universe.? (thanks for the common sensical reply. Deadline hell has made me a little ... off. Though I swear it's not morning!)
shhhhh ... I'm incognito. I was told how the cow ate the cabbage the other day by someone here and have chosen to lie low. This will work, don't you think? :-)

Hi Pari - I enjoy listening in on what you all have to say on your Murderati site. Paul Guyot introduced me to it, BTW. Also, my brother and his family have a vacation home in Angel Fire, and my father-in-law has one in Santa Fe. We've taken our kids to visit both areas, and you're right - New Mexico is beautiful.
New Mexico is gorgeous. And I don't worry about scorpions or flying cockroaches. I send the cats after them. Love the hanging peppers. I do the same thing in my kitchen, except I use garlic.
I won't be at Mayhem this year, alas. I'm hunkering down to write two manuscripts. My only con will be Malice. I'm also presenting at a convention for the Association of Jewish Librarians. That's about it. Mighty tame for 2007.
Judith,
I still like the reds; most whites don't have enough character for me. BTW: I lived near Tours when I was a foreign exchange student to France in high school. Beautiful town, but, oh so conservative. It was the year that Georges Pompidou died. Great to see the election process.

Did we meet at lunch at Left Coast Crime in Seattle? With Carola Dunn and Deborah Donnolly and Pat Rushford?

The Friday blogger on Writers Plot.
Jasper Fforde? Oh yes! (Hurries off to include him in favourite authors list).

That article just cracked me up. I got more play than the really "famous" writers. Sometimes PR just works that way.
It is taking me awhile to figure this out. So glad to meet up with you here in this bar--it's smoke free.

What a nice thing to say. Thank you.
Dick,
My pleasure.
