Good idea. Don't know if they'd remember to water plants...now I'm hunting for a rice cooker that turns off automatically and fits in a suitcase....

Hi Em,
You asked -So is the kiddo all set for college???
Hugs, em
Yes and no, Em. We fly to Miami on the 22nd and I'll 'settle' him into the dorm. Figure I'll buy him a printer there, then we'll confer with his roomates on a mini-fridge, microwave if there's space. But talk about dinky rooms and three big 18 year olds..who knows how they'll all fit?
Then we're empty nesters!

Barbara, great write up in Shots Magazine. Lucky you! He does seem like a low-key person and now I realize I need to get his third book...Voices. Thanks for letting me know.

Rhonda, A Perfect Spy is out in DVD too from the BBC, I think it was a series.

I spend many hours with Arndaldur Indridason and his wife, who is a teacher. Trying to explain the logic of No Child Left Behind was a bit tricky, but they were great guests to have for our Scandinavian Studies program. I wrote up some notes based on our conversation for Shots Magazine. Though he's such a low-key, straightforward guy, he didn't have a whole lot to say!

Bonjour Delphine! Many thanks. I just spoke with Jim Nisbet, who you know, and he sends greetings. We both have short stories in the anthology PARIS NOIR, edited by Maxim J coming out in the US next January. John Harvey has a story in it too, and I know you love his work. a la prochain!

I can't wait to read Wall St. Noir - I've got a copy on my shelf at the store! I'm in Fresno right now visiting my parents. I brought Edward Wrights Book "Damnation Falls" that comes out in Oct. With me, and the New Harry Potter... Yeah, I know, I'm a lemming...

Cara,

Good to see you come out and Play. Looking forward to seeing you with either the next book, or the LA Time Book festival. Your smiling face is always a welcome sight.

Thanks, Kathryn. Paris changes like anywhere else but those layers of history remain, right? I love the quote - can't remember who said it - the past is a foreign country. All those layers intrigue me even tho my books are set in mid 90's Paris.

Hi Cara! Thanks for stopping by. Your books look amazing! I'm putting them on my TBR list! I haven't been to Paris since the 80's (yikes). I hope it's still the same beautiful place.

Thanks for the comment, Cara - good to meet you too. I've never met Deon Meyer but have read his books - they're pretty good. Also, two of them are being made into films as far as I know, so he's doing well.

Hi Cara. I do come to the West Coast once in a while. In fact, I was just there for the SinC LA conference. I even met Kelli Stanley there ( I see she posted on your page).

I'm also going to be in Portland next week for the Willamette Writers Conference. Hopefully, my new book will be making its debut at this conference.
