Hi, Elizabeth...Does anyone call you Liz? Lizzie? Lizzie with an Axe to Grind? Just wondering. Thanks for becoming my friend. I'm sure we'll be chatting more.
I just turned sixty-three, and I consider THAT to be approaching middle age. Maybe when I'm 80, I'll think of myself as OLD. I'm going to reach my 100th birthday, or die trying. My role model, as far as authors go, is Agatha Christy. That lady had a way with the "cozies."
Dear Elizabeth, thanks for inviting me. The cover of your book is really cool. I saw in your profile that you like Reginald Hill and Diana Gabaldon - how do you feel about the gay characters in their mysteries.
Best, Martial
Cool! Audible sigh. What a time! I've read about the Washington Square days in several books, including "Positively 4th Street" by David Hadju. This tells the story of Joan and Mimi Baez, Bob Dylan, Richard Farina and their friends. I thought was very good, though Greil Marcus panned it. I like Marcus as a music critic, but maybe not as a book critic. My wife was born in Chelsea, MA, and Hajdu describes picnics on the beach at Chelsea with Dylan and Joan and others in 1958, when my wife would have been there too, as a child. They didn't meet up, apparently. Take care. Jim
Thanks for stopping by my page. My late aunt Gladys was a singer/guitarist in NY when Woodie Guthrie was still around. My late father was a Brooklyn College grad, so I have a lot of NY roots. I play and sing, but not so well, and I don't play out much (though I did have an occasional Klezmer gig for a few years). My son is the real guitarist in the house (age 14). I look forward to exploring your various blogs and upcoming book. I hope to see you at nearly nothing but novels (I just posted on fiction without crime for the first time in quite a while). Best regards, Jim
Hi Liz, thanks for the invite, looking forward to chatting now and again... I'll look out for your novel over here in the UK, sounds very interesting!!
