Early Endorsements for “A Circle of Souls”

Linda Fairstein, NYT Bestselling Author: "A fascinating debut - this novel takes the reader to the darkest places in the human soul, from a writer with the authenticity to lead us there. A stunning thriller and an important read."

Judge Judy Sheindlin, star of the Judge Judy Show: "The seminal work of this fine author kept me glued to my chair until the adventure was over and the mystery solved. A great read!"

Book Synopsis:

The sleepy town of Newbury, Connecticut, is shocked when a little girl is found brutally murdered. The town s top detective, perplexed by a complete lack of leads, calls in FBI agent Leia Bines, an expert in cases involving children.

Meanwhile, Dr. Peter Gram, a psychiatrist at Newbury s hospital, searches desperately for the cause of seven-year-old Naya Hastings devastating nightmares. Afraid that she might hurt herself in the midst of a torturous episode, Naya s parents have turned to the bright young doctor as their only hope.

The situations confronting Leia and Peter converge when Naya begins drawing chilling images of murder after being bombarded by the disturbing images in her dreams. Amazingly, her sketches are the only clues to the crime that has panicked Newbury residents. Against her better judgment, Leia explores the clues in Naya s crude drawings, only to set off an alarming chain of events.
In this stunning psychological thriller, innocence gives way to evil, and trust lies forgotten in a web of deceit, fear, and murder.

Dear Mr. Rennebohm,
Thanks so much for adding me! I checked out your website and I love it!
I see that you like the "Best In Show" movie. I had forgotten all about that movie until I saw it mentioned on your profile--what a great movie that was! We're going to become good friends, I can tell.
Sincerely,
Cynde L. Hammond

Funny you should mention this. I haven't read the book yet, but the wife and I watched "No Country" on DVD on the big screen last night (I saw it in the theatre last year, too) and yes, old Anton is about the nastiest villian out there, but he's also CRAZY. A true sociopath. I never thought of Ray as being anything other than just pure mean, and evil. Yep, FINALLY got going for real on book #2, after taking a 6 month hiatus at the request of my agent to do some revisions of book #1. When it reached the point where she was literally almost jumping with joy after reading it, she sent it out...and it's still out there. It has come very close to selling more than once, in the past 4 months, but most of the editors are all saying the same thing...the market is very crowded right now with crime fiction submissions. One editor at a big NY house described it as the "woefully glutted crime suspense market." Maybe we should have sent Ray, and a few of his boys over to pay him a visit first, hehe.

Hey there, Peter! I haven't talked to you in ages! How've you been? I am so glad to see you in here! I joined about three weeks ago now after seeing the CrimeSpace logo on Julia Buckley's blog. I really like it, lots of interesting folks and a good exchange of information. I have to tell you...even more than a year after I read your novel "French Creek" your bad guy, Ray Steckel, is still stuck in my mind. As far as REAL criminals go in fiction (and I know a little something about real criminals) Ray is one of the most accurately depicted ones I've ever read. Man, what a piece of work!
