Books And Authors I Like:
Elizabeth Peters, Leslie Ford, and Mignon G. Eberhart are some of perennial favorites. But right now I'm reacquainting myself with Agatha Christie. I'm feeling a yearning for traditional mystery these days.

With Apologies to Nora Charles

So someone brought one of these goofy tests to my attention. It's the 1930s Marital Scale.

Basically, you take a quiz and see where you rank on the 1930s scale of desirable spousity. It takes maybe...four minutes.

A MANTRA FOR MURDER

This is my favorite kind of day. It's raining -- just sprinkling a bit right now -- and I'm kicked back catching up on email and a few other necessary chores. Nancy Drew & The Hardy Boys Season Two is playing on the DVD player -- and I do need to post my thoughts on this favorite TV show of my misspent youth over at Girl Detective one of these days. It's so...different than I remembered.

I finally got to preview the cover…

Steele Amusing

When I write I like to use videos or DVD as "background music." Usually I choose old movies, but lately I've been enjoying all the TV shows from way-back-when now available on DVD. Today's choice was REMINGTON STEELE Season One.

These have held up very well--better than MOONLIGHTING, I think. They were very well-cast, and entertainingly written. In fact, I found myself so distracted--actually laughing outloud at times--that I got less writing done than I should have.

I…

Hi Diana - got your Dial Om for Murder for Christmas and it is so cool and so fun to see my daughter's name in it. Thank you so much. After a very rough year and a half she is doing great (we got her a dog and that seems to have helped her tremendously). She was flattered that you had remembered her too (and will read the book as soon as I am done). You are a doll. Hope your Christmas has been even half as good.

Just nicely finished Corpse Pose and loved it. My daughter (who is having a rotten time right now with thyroid cancer) read your Poetic Death series and is urging me to write you and demand another installment - she is 17. Well done on the new series (the kid will likely read it next)

Hey, Jennie! How's the new series coming?

I really have to try and keep up with this crimespace stuff. I'm mid-edits for the yoga book right now, and my life is my laptop.

Hi, Diana. Thanks for being my friend (officially, though we've known each other a few years by now...)

Thanks Diana. I keep trying to respond to this and either my computer or internet server just won't let me. Not sure what I did to them.

Love the new word. I think there could be lots of applications for it. Like when the kids do something totally alien (more alien than usual that is) and you could say that they are acting like nonbloodkin instead of telling them to behave properly etc.

Bloody Words in Toronto next year - that I can get to. Maybe LCC in Hawaii but it is unlikely at this point. Might go to Washington DC the end of May for a Wedgwood International Seminar but that depends on sister. (well on husband and kids too, who may well not be speaking to me by then since I am such a grouch with sister stuff)
