I've learned a lot (from some very excellent advice).
And that is to get my characters moving around more.
Okay, I didn't have them in splints, or completely unconscious, but I wasn't breathing enough life into them either!
I began to think about it. Sure, I read a lot--but for some reason, I hadn't noticed movement as much as I should have.
But then I started looking for it in what I was reading, and I saw that advice clearly demonstrated.
People have to move. They hold things, drop things--they slip, they fall. They run, they walk. They're fast or slow. some of them creep.
They touch their sleeves or play with buttons, sometimes the buttons come off and they curse.
In short, I hadn't thought about this aspect enough.
What are some interesting things you've had characters do--or have read that they do?
It can be funny or not funny!
Let's kick it around a little. Oh! KICKING! now there's another movement...!

I have one character who is often seen pulling her pants to sit just a little bit lower on her hips. ;-)

Another character tends to run his fingers through his hair.

And a third character moves rather languidly. He's actually described as being like melted chocolate.
Melted chocolate love that, teach!
I had Nick (ring a bell, ho ho)? grip a glass so tightly, because he wanted to shatter it and cut his hands! see how I'm learning?!
thanks for your reply.
But as for the pants pulling, she better not bend over, right?!
Sure she'd bend over... distraction is the whole point. ;-)
Now you made me laugh!
Yes, and Clair--! that could start up another type of movement, if some guys are watching and they find her attractive!
Hmmm?!
