Excellent Crimespace news today. Ning has added some much asked for features to the network.

  • Email messages can only be sent to friends or network administrators.
  • Friend requests can only be sent to members on the same network as you.

These two features should cut down dramatically on spam. And if spamming does occur within Crimespace, members are a warning and a button click away from removal of membership.

For those of you that have unwanted friends outside Crimespace or your other networks on Ning, feel free to remove those members from your friends list.

  • Improved search results.

Since the site is still indexing all the pages, you'll have to wait for these to show up, but I'm hoping it'll be easier to find that particular post that you've been racking your brain over for the last couple of days.

There's a product idea: a brain rack.

  • You can now see which members are online.
  • Proper tracking statistics have been added.

Now I have the ability to spy on all of you in detail and gleefully harass those of you who I know are chained to your computers, just like me.

In all seriousness, it will be handy to know where people are coming from and what the peak times are, so I can pick good times to check in on Crimespace. Also, when I make changes to the layout, I can see if those changes actually help the place.

Hooray! Although it makes me feel a little squirmy to know that Aussie Freak Boy can keep tabs on all my comings & goings now...
I'll be a good boy about it, I promise. Only one unwanted pizza delivery per month. ;)
What do you mean "now"? What makes you think he hasn't been stalking you from afar already?
You're not helping my paranoid tendencies, Stephen. Wait...am I really taking what a monkey with a gun says seriously?!
Yes. yes, you are.
Oh, YAY! I'm thrilled to hear this. I had some pretty wild ones lately. People really will start a network for anything.

And Angie, at least he's in Australia. Or we think he's in Australia...
Yeah, this one's going to be a major relief for me. Especially since it's fixed to work that way, not just an optional setting.

I do go to great lengths to show that I'm in Australia. Those photos of beer are really hard to track down.
DH showed up on another website that I haunt--one primarily devoted to Mystery Writers helping Mystery Writers. He was in Australia when I last saw his name there. (Well, anyway, he said he was. I'm not in Timbuctou, myself, but since I'm not sure how to spell even that, I'll confine the list of places where I'm not to the one entry.) Oh, yeah, by the way: a lot of the people on that website referred occasionally to DH, which, at the time, I took as standing for "Darling Hubby," only catching on to what they must have really meant just now, when I abbreviated Daniel Hatadi. i bet Dan himself didn't spot the overlap in abbreviations; or did he?
If you're talking about MWF, that would have been me, and yes I'm still in Australia. Luckily I've never been referred to as a 'Dear Husband' though. At least, not in the real world.
Great news, Daniel! But who's keeping an eye on you..?
That's great news about the spam thingy-wotsit. I've had a couple recently from people who think I will be interested in joining a network of people who send people invites to join a network of people who enjoy sending invites to people to join a network of people who enjoy sending invites to people....etcetera etcetera.

But now you're going to know that first thing in the morning I check my e-mail then open up crimespace and basically leave that window open until my computer is turned off. I'm going to look like such a Crimespace junkie. Oh...wait...

Thanks Daniel, for all you do. And I'll have peperoni mushroom and olive please.
As they say in America and McDonald's, "Would you like fries with that?"
