I won the St. Martin's Press/Malice Domestic Best Traditional First Mystery Competition, and my book "Posed for Murder" came out in 2009 and was nominated for an Agatha Award. My second book, "Dead in the Water" comes out May 11, 2010. I teach mystery writing and screenwriting.
I read mysteries non-stop, but the authors I always look for are Ruth Rendell, Laura Lippman, Michael Connelly, Harlan Coben, Agatha Christie, Dashiell Hammett... Some I've recently discovered are Laurie King, Will Thomas, Rex Stout, Robert Parker, and Edgar Wallace.
Movies And TV Shows I Like:
Red, White and Blue. Short Cuts. The Third Man. Ran. Stand By Me.
Congrats, on your distinction, Meredith! I, too, hail from NYC. I find it apropos living in a city that never sleeps, for as a writer, there have been many occasions where sunrise marked the end of my day. Do your plans include the Edgars or ITW's ThrillerFest?

Will you be at the Edgars? Sleuthfest?
We have to raise a glass.
