My debut novel, THE DAMAGE DONE, was published by Forge on September 28, 2010; my second novel, THE NEXT ONE TO FALL, will come out later this year. My short stories have appeared in Thuglit, Beat to a Pulp, A Twist of Noir, Crimespree, Spinetingler, Crimefactory, Needle, The Feral Pages, Well Told Tales, and The Rose & Thorn. "Anniversary," a story I first published in Thuglit, is featured in the anthology A PRISONER OF MEMORY AND 24 OF THE YEAR'S FINEST CRIME AND MYSTERY STORIES. Another of my stories, "Son of So Many Tears," appears in BLOOD, GUTS & WHISKEY (Kensington, May 2010). My story "Insatiable" won the 2010 Spinetingler Award for Best Short Story and is now in the BEAT TO A PULP: ROUND ONE anthology.
I'm also the author of 18 travel guidebooks for Frommer's, and I've traveled everywhere from Easter Island and Peru to Turkey and Russia. I'm originally from Toronto but have called New York home since October 2001.
Jim Thompson, Dennis Lehane, Walter Mosley, Margaret Atwood, Ken Bruen, Duane Swierczynski, Megan Abbott, Dave Zeltserman, and Patricia Highsmith. My all-time favorite novel is Earthly Powers by Anthony Burgess.
