Profile Information:

Little Elm, Texas
About Me:
The Ballad of Lacey Jay is a first effort at mainstream fiction for Larry Payton, but a continuation of a long history of Texas fiction for his wife, Barbara.
Living in Dallas, Larry met seasoned romance writer Barbara Jennison on line. Born and raised in West Texas, she had hit a snag with a current project, a departure from her standard fare of romance novels. He hadn’t written any fiction up to that point. nevertheless, they began to collaborate to bring Lacey Jay Autrey to life. Although she lived hundreds of miles away, the two became friends and during the year it took to write the saga, the two fell in love and were married just before the book was published.
Larry cut his teeth on journalism with posts like police reporter, news bureau chief and editor in print and radio news. His credentials also include publishing a number of high-tech manuals ranging from aviation electronics to financial network security. He also developed and wrote training materials for war veterans who needed to learn civilian occupations. Working with veterans sharpened his knowledge of disabilities and particularly Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
Barbara’s history includes both journalism and advertising, beginning in newspapers and graduating to radio and television. She wrote for the San Angelo Standard Times, including a recurring column titled My Turn.
The couple now lives in Little Elm, Texas, with an ever-changing mix of dogs and cats.
