Hi everyone. I've been away from this site for some years due to family reasons, but have returned to my writing with a vengeance.
I am in my mid 50s from Brisbane, and lived in Ireland for many years. I am in the process of writing a crime novel which I hope to complete next year. I have previously written a thriller set in Africa and some short stories set in Australia.
I like most crime fiction. For a while I concentrated on the older novels by authors like Raymond Chandler, Rex Stout, and Erle Stanley Gardner. (Unusually for someone who likes these types of writers, I do not like Dashiell Hammett).
Modern novelists I like are Robert Crais, Michael Connelly and James Patterson. Not limiting myself to male authors, I have just finished Bare Bones by Kathy Reichs and enjoyed it very much.
Non fiction is usually aviation related, or modern historical.
Movies And TV Shows I Like:
I don't have a lot of time to watch TV, but it would normally be crime dramas such as "Law and Order", any courtroom drama, or CSI.
Of non-fiction, I like documentaries showing forensics and police procedures.
Hi Denis: I'm a huge fan of Kathy Reichs. Love Bare Bones. Her new novel is out and I hope to get it and find time to read it soon. Have you tried James Lee Burke? He's my writing muse. I write mystery and suspense novels.
