Author of LAST LIGHT and A THOUSAND SUNS. I'm beavering away on the next, but it can be quite a lonely business, tucked away in my study. So it's nice to be able to chew the cud with people with a passion for books.
If the surname sounds vaguely familiar, my brother is Simon Scarrow, author of the roman series.
Nevil Shute, Jack Higgins, Alex Garland, Joseph Finder.
In my younger years I was a big fan of scifi by the likes of Philip Jose Farmer, Greg Bear and James Herbert. It's been a long time since I've read much in the way of scifi, but you know what?...I'm drifting back to it again. I'm getting a little tired of the thriller/crime market.
Movies And TV Shows I Like:
Not much of a fan of TV these days. I used to enjoy it a lot, back before we were inundated with dozens and dozens of channels of digital crud. If I watch anything at all these days, it's Newsnight, Questiontime and hmmm...that's it.
Movies, ah...different story. Love movies. If you put a gun to my head and asked me to pick three favourites I'd say: Sophie's Choice, 2001, Children of Men.
But sheeesh...you'd probably get an entirely different answer if you put a gun to my head tomorrow
loved it. Although I generally don't dig superhero nonsense, this was by far one of the best graphic novel to movie conversions. Keeping a keen eye on Watchmen for now.
Hi Alex, I can identify with your comments on Scifi and thriller/crime. I liked Asimov's novels that were both. Remember the detectives sidekick a robot? One of the books was called Caves of Steel I think.
L.J. Sellers
I like your movie choices. What did you think of V for Vendetta?
