I read crime noir-ish crime fiction -- Elmore Leonard, Richard Price, George Pelecanos, etc. I suppose my writing reflects those influences: dark, kind of pulp-ish.
I've actually dabbled in playwriting -- didn't quite make it to Broadway, but I got something in the State University of New York Brockport's festival years ago. I'm intrigued by people bringing theatrical elements to crime fiction. I think it's helped my dialogue writing. I imagine it's done the same for yours.
