    Lolita Noir.
We're going to really cause a ruckus.
  • norby

    Love your pic!
  • Lesa Holstine

    Welcome, Janet!
I think you'll enjoy it here.
  • Arkansas Cyndi

    What a great smile-producing picture!
  • Michael C. Jacobs

Thanks for the add. Re The Wire; You bet! Best police show, ever!

Lolita Noir... brilliant. What could possibly be more dangerous? I look forward to the ruckus.
  • Carla Harker

Nice picture. I wondered what you looked like. I did kind of suspect you were really a stuffed octopus, but I didn't want to say anything in case I was wrong.
  • Glen C. Allison

Welcome to Crimespace, Janet. You'll enjoy the site, I believe.
  • Mark Coggins

    Hey Janet,

Thanks for the kind words ... I saw your comment on DL about missing your subway stop. That was very nice of you.
  • Lee Lofland

Finally, an agent who is all warm and fuzzy...
  • Janet Reid

    ha!
  • M.G. Tarquini

    You look nice in pink.
  • Janet Reid

ok, enough people have commented on the octopus. Here's the story: I bought a new spiffy computer last year. I was messing around with all the new features. Suddenly, horribly, at 3am I was gazing upon my own visage on the screen. After a quick snort of whiskey to revive myself, I realized the Iphoto meant literally I-photo... And the photo it had taken was not only terrible, it could be described as a public nuisance and subject me to jail time.

I quickly grabbed the nearest object--Octopussy. I quickly snapped her photo and have used it ever since.

Hi Janet, I stopped by to say hello and thank you for adding me to your list of friends. I agree, pink looks fancy on you! lol

    You're from Portland!
    Go Ducks!
  • Geoffrey Proud

You're welcome. I've worked in the television business for many years, but I'm new to the book biz. This should be interesting. Thanks for the add!
  • spyscribbler

You like my picture? LOL! It doesn't compare with yours! Now that's a picture!
  • Krystal Waters

Hi Janet, I was just stopping by to say hello. Have a great week.

Hmmm, well, I wonder how good a bottle a three book deal would be worth? Maybe I'd even part with another bottle of fine single malt for something like that. Gotta keep one's agent happy.
    And vice versa, of course.
  • Janet Reid

For that kind of scotch I might sell you into slavery.
  • Kitty

Sorry to take so long to answer, I was out of town for a few days - Haven't read either book you mentioned but will have to look into them - love discovering new authors to read ........
  • Eric Stone

Hmmmm, what sort of slavery did you have in mind? What sort of scotch?
  • Janet Reid

Same scotch you sent before and remember, you're the slave. I've got a lot of windows need washing!
  • Eric Stone

I guess that's what we writers get for coughing up a mere 15% - they expect so much more. There's people here at my house this very minute, washing our many windows. They haven't broken any yet, but I"m being kept out of my office.
  • Krystal Waters

Hi Janet, I don't know if you are taking on new clients but I am currently seeking an agent. I have been looking for a year and the good ones are taken. I saw your bio and you said you are an agent. I have a full manuscript ready, thriller/suspense based. You can go to my page and look at the synopsis. If you are willing to take on a new client I would be thrilled to work with you.

Thank you for your consideration. If you are too busy I understand.

  • Janet Reid

HI Kristine! The only way to query me is to send a query letter and pages. The instructions on how to do that are on my website jetreidliterary.com

I'll be glad to read your stuff, but it has to come in the mail or via my email query process. I do this because it's how I keep track of things. I know it sounds anal but honest, it's what keeps this place from falling into anarchy!
  • Carla Harker

Are you saying the ritualistic goat slaughter and voodoo dance in the vat of chocolate are no longer a part of your query requirements?

Sigh. Writers sure have it easy these days.
  • Janet Reid

That's for the partial and fulls. I got complaints from goat farmers and chocolatiers.
  • Krystal Waters

Thank you Janet! I appreciate your interest and I will send out as you request. *BIG SMILE*
  • Krystal Waters

Hi Janet, after we spoke about you representing me as an agent, I recieved an email from a publishers who is going to take the manuscript! My first book and I am so thrilled! In the future, I may need your services, so I will always keep you in mind.

    Sincerely,
    Kristine
  • Cornelia Read

It's great to see you here at Crimespace, Janet. Thank you for the very kind comment. I was tremendously lucky to have Kristen Weber as my first editor, and I remain a huge fan of hers.
  • Janet Reid

We can have a Kristen Weber Fan Club!
  • Gemma Halliday

    Hi Janet,
Thanks for the add! I love your memo to self above. Hehe.

  • Jennie Bentley/Bente Gallagher

Hiyah, Janet. Thanks for being my friend. Is Stephany around here too, or is it just you?
  • Janet Reid

Just me! Me and my eight pink arms waving madly!
  • Bethany K. Warner

Hey, the interviews are fun for me too. And I'm always looking for subjects. If you have other clients who would be interested, send them my way.
  • Glen C. Allison

Congrats to you and to Eric on the pub date launch, Janet. If he gets anywhere close to the mid south, I'll visit him for a signed copy.
  • Janet Reid

Hi Glen, I'm not sure if Arkansas counts as mid-south, but I hear there's a new mystery bookstore in Little Rock: Sleuths Mystery Bookstore 1057 Fort Street. I don't see a website for them so I'm don't have much info other than that!
  • norby

    Love your avatar!!
  • Bruce Grossman

Yeah Janet The Wire is the best thing out there. Especially since Life On mars is done.
  • Janet Reid

Octopi aren't aliens!! They've been here longer than people!
  • Maryann Mercer

I think it works like those space shuttle countdowns...if conditions aren't optimal, a slight delay is preferred over meltdown :o)
  • Charlotte Williamson

    Janet,
Do you take unsolicited authors on as clients? Or am I asking too much of a crimespace pen pal.
    I write about police procedurals.
What part of New York do you live in? I've never been up North. Washington, DC is about as far as I've been. ( I visited Canada once) Sometimes, I live vicariously. It's less expensive.
  • Janet Reid

My website is pretty informative about all those FAQ kinds of things. Jetreidliterary.com
